Burgundian with nice acid and balance. Not particularly complex with subdued red fruit and a touch of meat and very slight cola note. Very good companion to a low key weekday meal.

Raphael and Fabiano popped by tonight with a bottle of this, that they were decanting about an hour and a half prior to coming over as we walked down the street after dinner and saw them through the kitchen window. This is a winery that Raph had visited many years ago, so I was looking forward to it. I grabbed the two of them a few glasses, and Raph did the honors of pouring the rest of the bottle. Nice rub color in the glass, and a nice subtle nose. Cherry cola was the first thing that hit my nose, with secondary hints of black cherry, spice, and a bit of raspberry. There also seemed to be a bit of alcohol prevalent, which makes me guess that this wine has many years left in it. On the palate, this was a nice wine. There was nothing over the top about this wine at all, and it wasn’t fruit forward to say the least. It wasn’t your typical in your face pinot, and was just a nice quaffer. Some strawberry and earthiness, alongside some raspberry and herbal qualities. Nice ripe cherry shines through, but again, it isn’t in your face, and I wouldn’t have guessed it as a wine from the Edna Valley. All in all, a nice wine, and a treat for them to bring over as I had never heard of it before. 88 points! Cheers! -F. Scott.

Deep, beautiful dark ruby in the glass. Quick decant, slosh and swirl. Powerful, full aromatics on the nose: ripe cherries, candied fruits and fingernail polish remover. In the mouth, surprisingly full bodied as if blended with more muscular grapes. Very rich and ripe, with cherries taking over into the finish. K. notes pronounced cider notes as well. A bit wild and disjointed into the tannic, medium-long finish. Calmed down significantly with each glass and gained a few points with a night in the fridge. Big, powerful pinot.

Pop n pour that developed a nice touch of complexity with air time. Medium garnet core with aromas of cherry, raspberry, earth and herbs. Beautifully textured, with solid Burgundian character and balance. Flavors follow the nose, with just a hint of dustiness. I was left wanting a bit more of a finish, but the seamless texture made up for it. Worked well with honey-chipotle glazed salmon. Drink thru 2014, 13,5% abv., recommended.

Excellent value Pinot Noir from the California Central Coast; Burgundian style meaning it is not a fruit bomb; French winemaker; well-integrated and balanced with some raspberry, baking spices, and tannins

BOB (Schneider's): Pretty oaky nose. Cedar and cherries. Nice warm baking spices developed as it opened. Tasted the oak more so than I have on past bottles. Raspberry with nice tannin/acid balance. Spicy cherries on the finish.

Spicy, earthy, aromatic yet intense nose, with a positive medicinal quality. The palate exhibits sour cherry, black raspberry, spices, with hints of earthiness. Good acid, grippy tannins. A well crafted, expressive wine. And for the prices of Pinots on the market, very good value.

Wine 7 of 10 presented by Scott Woodward of Appellation Wine Co. A really nice nose of earthy black cherry. Very fresh and bright. Really nice earth notes. Bright cherry on the mouth. Very linear with great acidity. This is very consistent with my previous notes. Good stuff.

Cuvee simbalizes there is a blend of clones. Big raspberry fruit. A touch tight (but that could be the Riesling I just drank). This vineyard was all replanted in 1998. Touch spice and meatyiness (or animal characteristic). Clone 666 and 777 are all the bass notes of the wine. These give the more blue black fruits. Pommard give the aromatic femine structure. A touch of Clone 2A give the bulky tannin. The idea is that this is more Burgundian.

Wine 4 of Central Coast Pinot Tasting: A full nose of warm, rich fruit with slight muskiness. Very inviting. Tight balanced fruit and acidity. It is so linear and focused, with wonderful bright sour cherry flavors and minerality. The finish goes forever. WOTN for me.

Ripe but not roasted in flavor. This has a some lightness, and a nice bit of acidic backbone. Significant oak imparts vanilla. Enjoyable.
