Opened tonight with seared duck breasts. It started out quite tight, with the typical tart raspberry and mineral notes in the nose, but with time opened up to a much more generous wine, with lush red cherry fruit and a firm acidic backbone. No hurry, it probably has another 3-5 years before true maturity if cellared well.

Utterly satisfying and inspiring the way only a Burg can be. Needs only about half an hour to open up, revealing an expressive nose of small forest fruits and resin. Middle weight ripe and fresh palate with a lot of red cherry, crushed stones and a hint of tomato juice. Long and juicy finish. Very well done!

This was a bit of a disappointment. Quite mature, with slightly bitter, acidic fruit. In fact, the fruit is showing signs of drying out. Although it is by no means over the hill, it would probably have been better a year or two ago when the fruit was fresher.

LILA Tasting: More “classic” light style Burg; very subtle tes; riper berry; Little more weight than meursault rouge, and hint more t’s. Good, but still very light.

Light ruby with big earthy nose, red sweet/sour fruit, candied apple overtones, big finish, currently a little acidic and unbalanced but likely to settle down with age

I didn't intend to drink this last night, but I was unable to find the bottle I was looking for in my cellar and was in a bit of a rush, so I grabbed this. As I expected, it's nowhere near being ready to drink, but there's great density to the underlying material, and excellent balance. It's not showing much on the nose, but there's lots of firm fruit on the palate, along with some earth and a hint of spice. Nice, expansive finish. This should be really nice in a couple years.

Ready to drink but well stored bottles should be great still in 3-5 years. Very polished wine for a Beaune 1er Cru.

Nicely mature cherries and Burgundian basketful of shrooms and berries. Just short on finish.

From half-bottle. Still very young, but developing nicely. Half-bottles should be ready to go in a few years.

Tasted at a NCWS tasting. Just about mature, but still with fresh acidity; medium weight; some complexity. Attractive now but should keep for a while.
