With age this is taking on some weight and complexity. The sweetness is there, but the acid and fruit dominates. Could have used an hour or so of decanting, as it opened in the glass over 2 hours.

Not often you get the opportunity to drink mature high quality white Graves. Great nose and balance but curiously towards the end of the bottle it had become somewhat blowsy and on one note. 90 at the stat, 87/88 - a generous 89.

Deep yellow. Fresh nose of peaches and mown grass with some apple in the background. This continues to improve with age. Top notes are citrus -- lime and pineapple, with green apple and some peach and kumquat. Not sweet but rich. Nice acid that should support more age.

I've been drinking this bottle using a Coravin for a year and half now. From the beginning it was quite oxidized. The nose is primarily the oxidized note, with honey and caramel. There is some stone and tropical fruit. The palate is smooth with fruit and oxidization. It's nice and easy to drink. I would have expected it to be more fresh, complex, and exciting considering its pedigree. Nonetheless, it's still likable. I am a bit worried about the state of the 1998 Plantiers I have though. ;)
Finally finished this off from the coravin with my out of town guest party for my wedding. The guests who liked white wine really liked it. It stayed pretty consistent over its coravin life, but I do think this wine was much more oxidized than a 10 year old White Bordeaux should be.

Now here's a wine you don't see every day, the original second wine of Haut Brion Blanc. Produced from 100% Semillon, there is a stony, honeyed quality to the citrus, white peach and pineapple sensations. The wine is not sweet, but it reminds me a bit of a dry Sauternes with more freshness.

What a way to start dinner with friends! This was my last bottle of the '06 vintage, but it was clearly the best I have had of that vintage. Pale yellow in color, fresh, balanced, fruity (lemon & pineapple), wonderful minerality, very good acidity, smooth mouth feel and a very nice finish. It may be the 2nd white wine of Haut Brion, but it performed at a much higher level.

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has medium lemon color, with legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas showing green fruit of pear, citrus notes of grapefruit, herbaceous notes of grass, kernel notes of coconut, mineral notes of stony, dairy notes of cream, maturity notes of hay. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium alcohol with medium (+) body, with medium (+) intensity flavors of green fruit such as pear, kernel notes of coconut, herbaceous notes of straw, dairy notes of cream. The wine has a medium (+) finish. Conclusion: Good quality Pessac-Leognan with a fairly intense nose showing good complexity, the wine has typical Bordeaux white characters that cannot be mistaken, with the palate refreshing with the good acidity, with the flavors also of good concentration. The finish is fairly long, with the only critics is that the wine is quite warming on the alcohol. Ready to drink now, it can be further aged for another 3-5 years.

Strong Semillon character evident here; bright floral and herbal aromatics leading into a palate full of ripe pear, melon and grapefruit tinged with vanilla and savoury waxy/lanolin notes. The mouthfeel's very rich and oily-textured, but still feels surprisingly light on its feet with goods acids and fantastic length. Lovely.

Very fresh acidity, nose of pineapple, straw grassy earthy nose and a touch of coconut. Without doubt serious wine-making, a bit thin on the palate but pleasing experience. I think it will evolve over the next few years, say three years.....shall we?

Lemon curd and bruised apples. Nice fatness on entry then a sense of breadth followed by a pleasing mineral finish.

Straw colored. Sweet, vaguely stewed nose. Candied lemon zest, mandarin orange, mown grass, retsina. More evolved bottle than the last one.

Fresh, citrus, consistent with past bottles in the case. Medium finish. Still improving.
