Gold straw color. Very floral nose but also matchstick and vanilla, and a hint of citrus. The combination is intoxicating. Palate is mineral, shell and Meyer lemon with some sulfer too. The body is medium light. This begs for seafood or fish. Fantastic showing. Pairing with a take on sole meunière. Excellent.

10th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, nearly back on form, proper mature colour, quite silky, if missing some of the bite and minerality of earlier bottles. Just F (17.5).

8th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, initial slightly corky funk blew off quickly showing nicely balanced, apply and mineral wine just spoiled by a slightly stalky, bitter back taste, better than June bottle and not up to those 2 years ago. VGI (17).

7th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level - initial hint of pox which blew off quite quickly, darkening, some unresolved sulphur, otherwise as last May 15 note, last glass the best and most nuanced, seems heavier and lumpier than earlier bottles. VG+ (16.5).

Straw-colored. A lot of sulfery funk on the nose. Matchstick, smoke, citrus, mineral, dried flower and a little vanilla on the palate, Long rocky, citrusy aftertaste. Excellent.

6th of 12, not decanted - this and 5th bottle disappointing relative to the excellence of the first 4, the wines are noticeably darker and less fresh, though not obviously flawed, just diminished in flavour and complexity, confusing when my previous experience of Jobard is of the need for long keeping to allow heavy sulphur to blow off.....a phase? Very good plus (16.5/20).

Ahumada, rasponazo en nariz! También cítricos y plásticos. No parece ni un 04 ni un Jobard! Joder que cata. Tampoco resuelto en boca. El tiempo dirá pero

3rd of 12, all fine notes - paleish yellow, classy fresh nose, flowers, some chalk, mid weight, some richness, long, just a little simple as yet, but balance and Jobard, suggest long life and capacity to improve. At present fine (17.5/20).
To elucidate some of the comment below, the point of grand and prem cru white Burgundy is their capacity to age and gain interest and complexity thereby, as amply demonstrated in my own cellar by Carillon Bienvenues and Champ-Canets in 85 and 89, or BDM Corton-Charlemagnes from 64, 85, 86, 89 and 90, let alone Ramonet Batard and Ruchottes 99 or Lafon Charmes 99 which only came good in my cellar 18 months ago. The current vogue for drinking young wine is a convenience of the wine trade to combat the current issue of premature oxidation in an attempt to limit their own exposure to defective wine making or elevage - the real culprit of far too many defective wines released to us poor consumers , particularly since 1995, an issue for which the growers largely, and scandalously, are failing to take responsibility. If all I wanted was fresh, clean white Burgundy, I could save a lot of money by buying at the village level or even the arrieres cotes in a hot vintage or Australia!

I've been getting nervous with my white burgundies with all the talk of the early maturation. But this was lovely even though I drank it with a sub-par pairing. Some unusual tastes coming through -- honey, lemon, citrus, but it's full bodied and has a wonderful long finish. Quite nice and at least this bottle could have aged for more years.

Medium yellow color. Aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, nutmeg and wood spices. Ripe, thick, nicely structured fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. Surprisingly fresh and persistent on the palate with very good complexity. Purchased on release from the distributor and poured out of magnum.

France Trip Part 3 - Burgundy; 6/20/2006-6/23/2006: Barrel sample tasted at the domaine w/ Francois Jobard. 100 cases made; 0.17 ha. Rich, big nose of lime, white flowers, and honey. Amazing complexity, minerality, and elegance. Silky and delicious. Awesome stuff!

Barrel sample tasted at the domaine. More citrus than the Poruzots '04 (see TN). Faint floral note. Harmonious. On the palate, near-perfectly balanced. Fantastic wine.

My favourites by Luis Gutierrez (plus private dinner at La Piperna) (Vila Viniteca - Madrid): Smokie Genevrieres, whole cluster on the nose! Also critics and smells of plastics. It doesn't seem a Jobard, neither a 04! By the moment a bloody tasting.
Rounded in the mouth either. Time will tell.

This is why you should cellar white Burgundy. A totally different set of flavours emerge. Mushroom, resin and other elements I can't really name.

2004 Vintage Burgundy Tasting and Oxidation Check (Part 1) (BLT Fish, New York City): Another surprise of the evening was how graceful and deep this became after an hour’s air, showing well in exalted company. Fine display of Genevrieres floral richness, in an elegant and serious package, if not as expressive as the others.
