I can't do better than echo PBAEK's note below with the bottle we just enjoyed. Decanted 6 hours in advance and last sip still the best. Flavors bright and balance extraordinary. Bottle direct from domaine, stored in a cool cellar in the Auvergne. If I had more I would not rush to finish - and would probably not defer the current pleasure much longer either.

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. Oh no, this is not on the way down or over the hill - at all. This is resting on a core of bright and sweet raspberry and strawberry fruit, subtle and understated, soft and caressing. 18 years in, the fruit is primary, delicious, sweet and spicy. Only a few can pull this off. Hats off.

Soft as a pillow, gentle marks of strawberry fruit and sous bois. Understated. Mature now and probably time to drink up within the next few years. As always, a treat to drink.

This is a sneaky animal. First it leads your to believe its over the hill, but then, after half an hour of air, it blossoms and starts to show subtle, dusty strawberry fruit and forest notes with that unmistaken touch from Reynaud. The fruit is floating on air, the mineral marks are clear. The color, by the way, is light red. A beautiful wine, still with plenty of fruit. Merci Emmanuel.

From my cellar in France. Perfect condition. Still young and fresh, this is oozing red strawberries, raspberries and flowers from the glass. Light red in color, this looks more like a burgundy than the Savigny I opened yesterday. So light and elegant in the mouth, soft and resolved, moving like velvet. Absolutely gorgeous wine. And at age 14 there is still many years of pleasure left.

This is just such a great wine. It has barely budged in the last 5 years even if the fruit is a bit more rounded and soft. The color is light, the nose is floral and perfumed, the palate displays gentle red strawberry fruit and spices not unlike a fine Burgundy. I chose to decant this one and it just got better and better over the course of 4 hours.

Has not changed much in a year, the fruit is still youthful and delightful - the nose is wonderfully perfumed and there's a palate of strawberry/rhubarb compote, spices in a light and elegant fashion - this is a fantastic wine, probably as good as the 2001 Rayas.

Wow, it's quite amazing isn't it; here we have a EUR10 Cotes du Rhone from 2001 and the wine displays so much more lively and vibrant red cherry fruit compared to the 2001 Usseglio and the 2001 Bonneau from the previous nights. The red strawberry/raspberry/cherry fruit is so sweet and ripe, just what Grenache should taste like in my view. The wine is light on its feet, a sheer delight to drink. Spices and pepper emerge on the palate. Will easily last another decade. I'd drink this over the Usseglio and Bonneau any day.

Another great bottle from Des Tours. The Grenache is very gentle and refined, the nose showing red cherry fruit with smoke and pepper. Runs through the palate with great length and smooth tannins. There is some sous-bois notes surfacing, but the cherry fruit is still very much present. The hall mark subtelty of this estate - nothing is overdone. Will easily tick along for another 5+ years.

PB 50 Rayas Extravarganza (PB's house, Charlottenlund): Sweet Grenache- nose, spice, certainly mature, a wee bit on the way down, alcohol, juicy.

Trademark light colour and rich strawberries and cream flavours. Some malt, warming. Served with chili con carne. A good match.

Medium red, showing age.
Welcoming complex bouquet, vegetal with some fruit.
Gorgeous taste, mature, soft tannins, classy, quite long, at its peak.
