Tasty. Bold, but too bold without a distinct flavor. Really simple. Good hue, can shine light through it. Goes down smooth and harmonious to the tongue. Ate with turkey

Really, for the money ($9.95 at Costco for 1.5L), this is quite a nice wine. We used it for cooking (Coq au Vin) and drank the leftover. It's on the simple side, but it's more than drinkable and actually quite enjoyable. The nose is fragrant and floral with some cedar, and the palate shows some plum and red fruit. There's little acidity and a short finish, but it's not bad at all.

Good QPR and as coloradowino points out, it held up well for the second day with vacuum seal pump stopper. I actually thought it was better as a result of the subdued acidity.

First Night: From the bottle, an amazingly potent smell of plum. From the glass, more subdued plum, some rasberry and a little tobacco. Enters the pallate a little bitter and fairly heavy but mellows our nicely. Finish is a little acidic at first but immediately dries out. Some Tannin. Overall, I dont love it, but for $6 I dont regret buying it and may even pick up another.
2nd Night: Wine held up very well, was vacuum pump sealed overnight. Nose is the same, and taste is very similar with only subdued acidity. This wine has grown on me quickly, I really like it alot and WILL be picking up another.

Pretty garnet-red. Raspberry spice nose. Strawberries and cranberries, some woodiness, fairly light-bodied, friendly acid, quickly passing tannins, and a medium finish. If I was tasting blind, I'd say it was an average pinot noir. This was very good for a sub-$10 wine. Day 2: Fell apart. Fruit disappeared, leaving behind only a woody astringency. Very disappointing.

Strawberries and some raspberry tartness. Some bitterness on the finish. Good acidity. A bit lighter bodied than I expected given the year, but fit the bill as a basic french table wine.

Palatable for sure but this wine would best be left for hot summer days as a bistro/patio type wine. Tastes just north of a deep rose really. The fruit while light is clean and the wine is well structured with some acid and tannin. While you can certainly do much better with many 07 cote du rhones in this price range its not a bad effort for Vielle Ferme. Serve Cool.

This light and fruity wine makes a good compliment to many dishes and drinks well by itself. Bright fruity nose with hints of raspberries and cherries. Fruity with a bit of spice on the palate with some blueberry, raspberry and cherry flavors. This is a solid drinkable wine that would make the perfect third bottle.

Curious about some of the under-$10 Cotes-du-Rhones for '07, I picked this up ITNOS. Dark red to rim, not very intense nose of straightforward red berry, not getting the pepper or spice noted by others. Light-medium body, soft palate feel, good balance, short finish. Good wine, good QPR and better than its cost at only $7, this would make a nice big-party wine but lacking any real complexity or interest, not something I would spend another night drinking.

Wonderful French table wine for not much money. Great classic terrior and far surpassing most American wines in food paring. Better after the second day (e.g. I opened it and had a glass, then sucked the air out for a night, when I opened it the next day it was mellow and more flavors emerged).

With the exception of the Day 2 note below, one can see that almost every reviewer had something good to say about this wine, and I totally agree. While I've been largely underwhelmed by most of the '07 daily Rhone drinker I've tried in the 10-14 dollar range, this little Ventoux really surprised me with its guts and typicity. Respi-Aerate to decanter and geewillikers Charlie Brown look at the color - a dense ruby well darkened by violet and black tones, medium-full body. On the nose medium depth strawberries and raspberries, a few of them still having some green leafy stems, a fat streak of minerals and ore, and a little earth. Tart red seed fruits on the attack are joined by a little garrigue, sour cherries, and minerals in the mid through the finish. Overall the depth is moderate and the length is rather short, but I was quite surprised at how well this is folded into a pleasant balanced package that delivers what the vintage promises, and all at a cost of $6.50. Thank you and may I have another?

Screw cap. Opened and poured. Served at about 13 degrees (it being a warm day). Nice bright red, clearly young, clear with a berry fruit bouquet and a crunchy palate. Good structure and no heat at all. Medium length fruity finish. Good value and ok for another 2-3 years or more.

probably my fave of the last few vintages of this negociant wine and an absurd QPR at $6 (on sale). Balanced and intense and super drinkable - just soft enough and just firm enough. Also, After drinking 1/2 bottle, Held up for a full day with just the Stelvin closure put back on w/o a trace of oxidation. Not bad for $6.

No faults, but nothing to write home about. A "gesso" wine. If you want something as an accompaniment that won't get in the way or compete with food, this will fill that bill. But no way you can complain at $7...doubt that one could do better for the price.
