  • Retail $22. 100% Gamay. You know, this is certainly (well) on the way to its downward slope. The fruit is essentially faded, and what is left is certainly a bit (or more) stewed. But this is fantastic. Sure, as I mentioned, fruit was at a premium, but the acidity is certainly there. As are secondary and tertiary flavors and aromas. Maybe not for everyone at this point in its long life, but I dig it.

  • Having just returned from a trip to the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, I was excited to give this cork a pull and taste a decade old bottle from the region. Classic raspberry and earth on the nose, with a hint of mocha. On the palate, there is subtle fruit and plenty of acidity--this wine is fantastic now, but still has plenty of life left. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • I bought a half a case of these seven years ago, had a couple of them right away, and then forgot about them. Upon opening, there was a rather strange meatiness, to the point of being overwhelming and coming close to convincing me that there was a flaw. After a few swirls and a bit of time, that blew off, revealing raspberry, cassis and eucalyptus. There is a tiny stewed aspect, but a whole lot of what make Beaujolais great: fruit, acid, balance, yum. Outstanding. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • (WineGate)

    Clear pale ruby color.

Clean in the nose, with medium intensity, beautiful aromas of red currant, red cherry, kirsch and bubblegum. With time darker fruits emerge like fig and plum splashed in vanilla/milk chocolate. Youthful

Dry in the palate, medium body, medium intensity, medium/medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13%) with medium-/medium tannins, offering red fruits mainly currants and cherries, sour cherry, a tiny hint of animal nuances with the faintest oak splashing. Ends with a medium finish.

Very good wine, retailing a couple of euros under 20, drinking now but I think it could age more due to so prominent primary fruity character nested in a rather solid (for the variety) structure.

  • Medium bodied. Slightly herbius nose. fresh red fruit, a touch of gren herbs, and a little vanilla. Excellent for casual drinking with its bright structure.

  • P&P. Classic MaV. Consistent with last note, this bottle maybe more effusive. Nose of red fruit melange, bubble gum, red licorice, earth, iron and cinnamon. Same easy bright red fruit on the palate, especially earthy strawberries. Might lose fruit brightness and gain more earthen notes, but I think this is in a fine place right now. Huge shift from the 09s, this is less brazenly dark, ripe, huge and profound, but still quite quaffable.

  • Quite fruit forward and jam like after opening. Not much acidity or tannins shown. After one hour bit more minerality shown but still not impressed. This drinks like a generic new world wine.

  • A good Beaujolais of real weight and flavor. It has a nose of raspberries, earth and a touch of funk. The palate comes across with a smooth glide of dark cherries, gaining more earthy to the close, and a touch of CO2 aided minerality gives it a bit of lift. The tannin is likely there to last another 5 years, but I'm unsure the acidity will hold quite as well, and I don't think the flavors will improve much over that time either. Its delicious, don't feel rushed to drink it, but its not something you want to try aging from the region.

  • Bright and yummy. Went down fast. Magenta hued purple-red. Nose of gravelly black cherries. Same red/black fruit profile, earth and mineral notes, light body, good acidity, low alcohol and shortish but nicely drying finish. This could last a decade, but I'd say it won't get much better, just different. Wanted to try this to have some context to the newly arriving 09's.
