14.5% alcohol, sturdy foil, real cork, more brown than red but with red glints, long legs, light fruit nose, tannins & alcohol muted, bing cherries, pears, lychee, a little citrus-like zing; very pleasant finish but not long-lasting; not very complex -- more of a 'background' wine, delicious in its own way, a textbook example of the smoothness that is achieved by aging; so the advice of 'drink 2008-2012' can be lengthened by at least four years and probably even longer, if cellared properly; we paired this excellent wine with rack of lamb, gas grilled over smoldering apple wood, a memorable combination

Quite a nice and rich Syrah. Went well with our Thanksgiving dinner. Got better as the night went on. Let it breath for ar least a few hours to open up. Big dried berries, good finish.

This was supposed to be a bit past its prime but it aged beautifully. One of the best RN wines I've had in a few weeks. bright, deep fruit notes - ripe raspberries, cherries. Medium finish. The wine looks purple colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry and cherry. It tastes like strawberry, raspberry, cherry and cinnamon. The body is light/medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Nose of dark fruits - plums, currants, spices. Really soft on the palate - very elegant with medium + finish and good acidity. Not at all over-powering. Beautiful

Black garnet, black cherry, bold primary fruit with perfumed oak and healthy tannin. Perfect with Thanksgiving feast. Drink now over the next two years as not sure if the secondary expression of this Rutherford Syrah fruit would be as appealing. CA Syrah should be served coolish at 16-18 C.

Good syrah, but not exceptional, bough at good discount so good for the price, but not worth full price in my opinion; strawberry and dark cherry flavors, moderate tannins, better on day 2 as previous reviews have noted.

average syrah. deep red , medium body. somewhat sharp acidic on day 1 after two hours decating. better on day 2 once tannins have softened and fruit has opened up.

Dark red color, prominent spice on the nose, earthy, white pepper. The palate shows good fruit, black cherry and firm tannins. The finsih is moderate. This wine was better day 2, then tannins were softer and more integrated.

Perhaps abit young but not all that good. As I have railed before the Captains series which replaced the Directors series at Coppola/Rubicon is often an evil one must endure to source thier much better wines as part of the club. Even if it is now almost all estate fruit this was still pretty dull. Hints of strawberries and sour plums on the nose with hint of pepper and spice on the palate with almost no finish

Disappointed. Hot and simple. Good Rutherford character, but its burried under harsh alcohol. Didnt finish my 2nd glass.
