In magnum. Citrus, stone fruit, crushed stone, and peach. More layers and depth than the 07 Tessons. Very elegant on the palate with good precision. Still needs more time to fully unleash in this format.

PoB - Roulot / Fourrier Magnum Dinner (Hong Kong): Much riper and creamier than the 2011 Perrieres next to it but equally impressive as it also has a flinty, mineralic side to it and great freshness. Great Chard that pleases the purist as well as the lovers of a richer style.

Beautiful magnum of this. It's got balanced and wonderful depth of yellow orchard fruit. Clearly Charmes though I often find Roulot's expression a bit easy. I think it's entering prime window right now. Only thing a off was that the nose was dominated by sulfur to the point where obscured the fruit.

Not in a bad place, but in a youthful ripe phase. Acidity is there but it's more about the richness and volume of the sweet orchard fruit. Very broad and expansive. Oak is still present. Needs time in the bottle.

Pale yellow. Gorgeous nose shows lemon, peach, smoke, and crushed rock after an initial whiff of matchstick reduction. Silkily textured, with bright acidity and a lithe frame, the 2007 Charmes is not the most concentrated Roulot but makes up for it with an incredible softness and purity.

Nicely textured palate with strong minerality and enveloping acids on the finish. Could benefit from more time in the bottle, but enjoyable today. Improved with two hours of air time. 93+

Barolo and Burgundy dinner - 79 Cristal, 89 & 93 DRC Ech, 05 RSV, 10 Rousseau CdB and etc. (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Soft sweet yellow fruit driven nose, lemon, white peach, smoke and mineral. Excellent concentration, despite being fat and round, bright acidity and strong mineral presence provided the nice precision and balance. Interestingly, some resemblance to the Lafon version where the Perrieres was closer to the Coche version with a strong matchstick/gun flint note. It is drinking nicely in very youthful way.

Quite reduced and supremely tight at first. Breathes up to show restrained exotic fruit notes. It is explosive in the mouth with powerful rich fruit and a sweet core. It tightens again on the finish and has great dry extract and phenomenal length.

Deep yellow gold color. Some oxidative notes overwhelm the lemon and citrus nose, thIs is way too advanced for an 07 from Roulot. The palate shows more life, with a lemon infused lively structure and a light if perhaps a bit flat mouthfeel. This is worrisome, as Roulot has in my experience dodged the premox bullet until now.

2007 is neck and neck with 2010 for me when it comes to roulot. The 07s are so pure and soft on the palate. The wine and the flavors just glide through to the finish. The flavors of apple and orchard fruit are so fine and precise. A delicious wine, only got better as the structure filled out with fruit and acidity but it didn't change the texture of the wine at all.

Dinner in Burgundy (Beaune (multiple locations)): From magnum. I liked this wine shortly after release, but it is so much better now. Lemon, lemon peel and lemon curd with some ginger, white pepper and toasted nut. Layers of flavor unfold as the wine evolves in glass. Best taste was the very last 3 hours after first opened. Wow.

The supper club eats and drinks well in Connecticut. (Bill's.): Much tighter on the nose and palate than the Lafon. It's bigger in body, but not as elegant or well put together and is showing a touch more oak. Some creaminess with a strong mineral character to go along with toasted nuts, pears, citrus and yellow and white flowers. A-/B+.

From magnum. This is already drinking very well. It was a disservice drinking it next to the perrieres, but the charmes is great in it's own right. Hazelnut, butter and yellow fruits. Fine mineral and rich pear and apple on the palate. Delicious wine.

Gorgeous aromatics with lemon curd, toast, brown butter and almonds. Almost Champagne-like on the nose. The palate is very fresh and elegant, turning rich and round, but not fat. Beautiful combination of creamy lemon, baked apple and a vanilla bean aspect that lingers on the finish. Begging for lobster and all-in-all, a very well put together, downright classy bottle of Chardonnay.

Beginning to lose intensity, but still a nicely layered palate here.

Still tight and reductive. No doubt the underlying substance is promising, but it certainly needs more time. I would give it at least another 3 years.

Still significant reduction on the nose. Good crispness across the palate.

Pretty great but still very young. Lots of energy and acidity here, showing fruit, but no secondary layers yet. Hold bottles.
