Delicious, while still young. I was a bit concerned at first because of the deep golden color that made me think this could be premox but luckily it was not. It is rich, balanced, creamy and very long, with a bright acidity and lovely floral aromas. It has a long life ahead, but it already delivers much pleasure.

Theme: Burgundy (Summer Pavilion @ Ritz Carlton): Popped and Poured. Double blind. Mouth coating and palate staining intensity. Painfully intense with insane power but not heavy, with stunning purity of fruits, dry extract etc and length. Not many wines can achieve this level of intensity and when P revealed the bottle, we all know why. This has got everything for the long run, just tightly coiled and too young! A true full Monty.

This is a nice, well made wine that checks off all the boxes for a nice white burgundy but doesn't really shine. On its own, this would be a fine opener to a nice dinner, or a good accompaniment to lobster or rich fish. On this night, it had the misfortune to be opened alongside an 07 Dom Leflaive Chevalier Montrachet and it just couldn't compare to the majesty of that wine.

Tasted blind. First idea was to call a Chardonnay and decided to switch to Sémillon...not impressive I know. Low acidity wine, with medium intensity-complexity on the nose. Honey and honeysuckle flowers...I'm not giving it a higher note because of its lack of acidity. Length was medium+...drink now-2020

this is very open now and has an impressive focus and intensity. More a Chevalier than a Batard feel - so minerals without much fat. Still hints of oak. can't hurt to wait a few more years, but very enjoyable now.

NFA Dinner 2014 (Gattopardo Restaurant, Tras Street, Singapore): A baby, and very atypical for 2007, but this was an extremely impressive wine. This had a sweet, ripe nose, with layers of buttery, creamy, nutty tones - almost like caramel biscuits - and then ripe apples and nectarines, honey and honeysuckle flowers, all shaded with a little whiff of mineral and gunflint. A very attractive, if rather primary and in-your-face at the moment. The palate started out a bit awkward, almost tottering out of balance with its sheer power and a really unusual ripeness for the vintage, but given a bit of air and time, it really started coming together beautifully. There was tons of substance here - it was grippy, mouthfilling, very big for a 2007, with a buttery, creamy attack and a midpalate showiing sappy flavours of nectarines and pineapples, backed-up by lots of spicy, minerally extract. With time, some perfumy truffle notes started developing as well. Again, it was all a bit in-your-face and certainly very primary, with the buttery weight and sweet ripeness making me think it might be a Batard-Montrachet. However, there was always a lovely line of acidity that kept the wine focus and decisive, if not exactly quite as precise as some of the best 2007s; and while the layered depth and sheer presence of the wine may have been very apparent, it was also held itself together with an effortless strength and balance that made it easy to drink. I think it was probably the finish that was the most impressive in that aspect. It was long, seamless and energetic, winding its way through the back-palate with a graceful balance and effortless power. Here, complex little nuances of exotic spice and flinty mineral nestled amidst citrusy lemon and kumquat notes, with the bright 2007 acidity finally making itself felt towards the end. Still a baby, this probably has the chops to go on aging for just about forever, and needs at least 5-6 before being anywhere near approachable. However, all things considered this should come good earlier than most Montys, and when it does, it should be brilliant. While I also think it will always be one for those who like their Burgs with a bit more flesh and opulence (not my usual style by the way), it is very impressive indeed.

Terrific wine for the vintage. Still young but drank well. Well balanced minerality. Pear and apricot notes. Full bodied with a long complex finish. Tasted from Magnum at Daniel Restaurant, New York. Tastavin dinner

Birthday Celebration (Grace Restaurant, Chicago IL): Opened 30 minutes (at most) before serving. Powerful, ripe aromatics right from the start. Yellow citrus, ripe orchard fruit and toasty/grilled bread. A mix of white and yellow flowers too, intermixed with wet stone. Quite lush and giving on the palate (for an 07) with the same ripe orchard fruit coming through. The acidity showed itself on the back of the palate and provided for a long, energetic finish. If I had a bunch of these in the cellar, it would be hard to keep my hands off them right now even though I know its got the stuffing to age. Simply delicious!

Farewell Dinner (Charlie Trotter's, Chicago IL): Ripe stone fruit and lemon peel on the nose with delicate floral and bits of spice. The palate was a bit richer than I remember from last time, but still showing its mineral backbone. Good weight and intensity with the acidity coming through on the lengthy finish. Very nice.

Farewell to a Great Restaurant (Charlie Trotter's - Chicago IL): Slightly floral and rather ripe stone fruit aromas for a 2007. A bit more restrained on the palate with some sweet spice in background, then sneaky acidity providing lift at the finish. I'd expect this to be better in a few more years, possibly as good as the wonderful bottle of 2000 also tasted tonight.

Much, much too young - very closed indeed. Oak. hiney, citrus, butter, tight wine, but with in 4-5 hours, everything starts showing. Leave it be for now. #VMiChardonnay

Showing much more on the nose than the Batard; has rich opulent fruit, with a special perfumed sense to it; a bit of funky earth too. Definitely living up to its classification. On the palate, the electric acidity of some of the other wines tasted is taken to another level here; a very lively wine. On the palate, very pretty - not over-the-top opulent, but a very nice balance. Definitely more oak and buttery richness than the Batard, but it's the acid and liveliness that stand out. I might actually prefer the Batard but you can't deny the greatness here in a heavier, richer style. 94-95

Rich and intense with white flower, honey and gentle oak. Lots of intensity on the palate but it lacked some finesse of a great montrachet.
