This hung around for a long time before I got around to opening it. S little more earth on the nose than many Russian River Valley Pinots. It displays fruit and body, pleasing acidity, strawberries dominate the finish.

La Cave d'Argent's note below from Feb 15 is apt for us. Compared with another note or two, we didn't find it overly extracted -- and we are sensitive to that. Clearly it's a new world wine, but it shows some earth, and despite the high alcohol it reflects some restraint. Lovely stuff.

Typical of the Merry Edwards Klopp offerings, this particular bottle showed beautifully after several years of cellaring. Still deep ruby/red, it is packed with black cherry fruit, earth-laced plum, black tea and dried herb aromas and flavors. For a Pinot, this is a full-bodied wine. Despite its ripe fruit, it retains significant freshness and is held together by seamless alcohol (14.4%) and medium-weight, fine-grained tannins. The flavors build in the middle and remain very well-proportioned. Closing long and supple, this aged Klopp is in its "sweet spot." Those holding well-cellared bottles will be rewarded over the next 3-4 years. Drink now-2019.

Classic RRV pinot from a great producer. This wine is drinking very well now, or you could hold it for a few more years. Aromas of cherries and dark berries jumped out of the glass with notes of baking spice and cola. Was even better with food.

Just a classic, well refined California Pinot Noir from an exceptional vintage that is ready to drink now, or you can save it for a couple more years.
Layered flavors of raspberry, strawberry and blueberry mingle with hints of vanilla and all spice. We decanted for 30 minutes before serving, and both agreed the wine improved (softened) as the meal progressed, and that we feel it was better with the food. Nice long finish, softened tannins, and floral nose that held up throughout the meal. Merry Edwards is one of our favorite PN labels, and this one is an excellent example of her terroir and winemaking trade craft.

This is probably a polarizing wine. Big, big fruit, dark and super-rich. Not exactly light on its feet, yet it's actually quite balanced and very delicious. At some level, that's all that matters.

Excellent pinot. I really jumped the gun on this - when I tasted at the winery upon release this was very fruit forward. I didn't know if this would ever offer more than fruit. Loaded with cola, root beer, dark cherry and earth. Still quite young. Fine tannins are still not integrated, but this has great structure and good acidity. If I had more I'd probably check in at year 8 or 10.

AVB 14.4% In the glass a very dark Pinot for Merry. This one seems to have gotten away from her, it does not have the characteristics that I have come to expect from Klopp Ranch. I much prefer a Burgundian style to this new CA style. Perhaps I should drink these sooner but that is not my habit. I have a Mag and 3 more 750s if anyone wants to make me a good offer.

Pop and pour. Red and black cherry, plum on the nose. Very floral as noted by others. Right out of the bottle this had the depth and weight of a merlot, just heavier than most PNs, which appeals to our preference. Within an hour this had assumed the lighter weight of a PN while retaining the depth of fruit of a bigger wine. Nuts and jasmine mix into the flavors. Very nice.

This wine was opened and poured. It showed aromatics of dark cherry, cola, vanilla and floral notes. The color is a medium to dark ruby that is correct for the wine age. The medium bodied palate shows some density and continues the dark fruit theme. The medium textured tannins show from the mid-palate to the finish. This is drinking well now and some additional time in bottle may bring out more complexity.

Nice flora nose. Sour tart cherries with a hint of strawberries. The mid-palate had a hint of pepper and it finished with lots of nutty oak. It definitely could use a little more age.
