Weekly tasting group RWP #300: Holiday wines (@ DJ): In the bouquet minerals, yellow fruits, apples, nuts and oxidized impressions. On the palate a slightly fat and sweet start, good acidity and bitterness and a good length.

Tasted over two days. Very fine. Minerals here galore, some honey, citrus; mature, but far from gone - still very fresh and precise. Just below the 2004. #Kandestederne #Henrik&Musse

Apple, citrus and wet stone nose. Flavors of apple and peach with a touch of almond and lemon in the finish. Medium weight and smooth creamy texture. Low acidity which leaves it a little flat for me. Good effort but not great.

Premier & Grand Cru Chablis (Willamette Wine Storage): After a night of (mostly) lightly oaked Chablis, this comes across as an oak monster. Really really spicy oak, charred wood. Almost like a California Chard with the oak. Nicer balance on the palate, with some pleasing sweet fruit, candied spice, and really yummy. Here the oak is noticed, but it's in check. Again spicy oak on the finish, but not as dominant as the nose. Good and tart, and feels clipped by its own acid.

Louis Jadot Tasting (Portland, Oregon: Liner & Elsen): Popcorn and mellow lemon scents hit the nose. The wine is clean and delivers full on popcorn flavors along with some lighter apple notes. The acidity is good and continues well through the finish.

This is a very pleasant, nicely balanced wine. It has pleasant minerality and a touch of citrus. The Oak is present, but it is not at all obvious or bothersome. I am not that familiar with chassagne montrachet as they tend to cost more than I am typically willing to spend. I have had a number that I felt were too austere, but this one was easy to drink and had some complexity. It was not cheap, but these wines tend to be expensive and this was on the lower end of what I have seen. In my limited experience, I have not found the same balance of minerality and citrus in chardonnays from outside of France.

2009 Wine Spectator NYWE Grand Tasting (Marriott Marquis, Times Square, NYC): I really enjoyed this -- a wine I will seek out. Lightly toasted oak is well integrated with green apple and dried honey flavors on the palate. nice acid balance.
