Drank from a split. Sweet black fruit on the nose with leather, spice, and menthol. There was some heat initially that blew off, and this became exceptionally balanced. For full disclosure, I've drank ALOT tonight, but this greatly surpassed my expectations. Simple, but a crowd pleaser.

14.3% alcohol. This really has hit a nice stride. Blueberry and pepper on the nose, with a meaty edge that comes out on the palate. Somewhat brawny and quite spicy, another great barbecue accompaniment. A-

14.3% alcohol. Smoother than the first bottle. Blue and black fruit jumps out of the glass, with a touch of creamy oak. In the mouth, showing juicy blueberry and black fruit, along with meaty and peppery notes. Strong acidity and a refined-yet-tannic grip on the finish. A-

Classic sweet California syrah. Raspberry syrup, ripe cherries, warm mouthfeel. Finish is more complex than I expected, but oak is too present. Very average. Great with barbecue chicken.

14.3% alcohol. Inky purple-black color. A fragrant nose of blue fruits and pepper. In the mouth, quite brawny and feel youthful. It was a bit more structured than I expected. There's plenty of fruit, but this is just a pretty serious wine that needs to settle in and smooth out. B+

Inky, black color. The plummy nose also displayed a liberal amount of oak and pepper. In the mouth, this medium-bodied wine provided a polished profile of plums and oak with a peppery finish. The finish had moderate length with plenty of pepper. The got even better with spaghetti and italian sausage because the oak faded and the pepper matched perfectly with the sausage.

Fits the bill for tonight, to go with homemade chili. Plump and a little pillowy with black fruit, some ink and tar, with a whiff of pepper. Nice weight, decent amount of acids, some graphite and some strucuture to keep it all together. In the new world category but I prefer this style almost always and even moreso tonight with the meal and the Kings/Canucks game, it works great........2 nights later, I have the last of the bottle and it's less pillowy but indeed a full bodied wine. Inky with a licorice and blackberry earthy richness, too. New world but plenty of edges and some complexity to make this as usual a great value.

Wonderful young Syrah drinking well right now with the singular zest of a CA varietal and a soft velvety mouth feel. Bright black fruit, showing some hints of moist earth and fresh spice on a sturdy medium tannic finish. Went exceptionally well tonight with our lamb shoulder cuts seasoned with lavender spices. We think this will peak in a year, but drink now through 2013.

I enjoyed this very much. Went up against an 06 PN and 98 Cab Franc and was the clear favorite in the room. Great nose, vibrant fruit. Will get better with time, but great now too.

Smooth, ready and showing well now. Opened for 1 1/2 hours before serving. The nose is bright cherry. It's all Syrah from beginning to end. The finish is smooth with little spice, medium in finish.

Drank from a 375 - Popped and ran through the Vinturi, still needed about 30 minutes to shine. Very nice Cali Syrah, blue fruit, spice, a little pepper, decent acidity/fine tannins - nice finish. Really went well with strip steak, and asparagus with morel mushrooms. Wish I had more.

Popped and poured with dinner. Meaty notes on the palate. Some spice (cinnamon) on the nose when initially opened. A warm weather syrah "palette".

This took awhile to come around, but it's fantastic now (day three). Lush and spicy, but with enough acidity to keep it fresh.

Trip to Napa/Sonoma; 11/7/2009-11/14/2009 (Napa/Sonoma): nose of black fruit, cherries and currants. Finely structures and nicely acidic for a Napa Syrah. nice peppery Syrah that never gets too big and solidly complex.

California Wine Tour; 8/27/2009-8/30/2009 (Sonoma/Spring Mtn/Napa/Santa Cruz): The left over barrel from the blend. Very good. Pitch black color, slightly sweet, wild berry and Jammy. Reminds me of $25+ Aussie. ($19.5 at winery)
Recommended.
