This bottle showed much better than the previous bottle, two years ago. Nice bouquet with very concentrated and focused flavors. Spicy with noticeable tannin. Still has a lot of time ahead of it to develop. I am impressed.

Concentrated and solid wine, but a little over oaked that took from the wine. Medium length and average finish. The wine lacks the charm that pushes it beyond its structure.

Deep purple, almost no sediment. Fruit is brighter than expected for 2005; medium finish. Paired well with the lasagna bolognese recipe on the Elyse website. Some commenter have expressed concern about further aging for this wine but I think it has some years left

different experience than my 2011 experience with this bottle... then I commented it was more restrained than I expected... this one has plenty of fruit, perhaps just a tad riper than I prefer, but it was drinking very well and I enjoyed it. nice bottle, and this will hold for quite a bit still..

Slow-ox for about an hour before dinner; cork in perfect condition. Beautiful, deep garnet-purple. No real visual signs of age. Bouquet of crunchy red fruit. I get raspberries and currants with relatively modest energy behind it. Tannins are firm and acid is sufficient though, I can't see any more upside as the fruit begins to tire after hour three making way for a more ripe plum character. Not as impressive as the 2002 vintage from a few years back but still consistent with Elyse quality. I would drink sooner than later if I had more.
Patio Party Summer Solstice June 2015: And yet another bottle that was hitting on all cylinders due to a bit of bottle age (a theme on this night) ... elegant and polished with a variety of fruits shining through - blueberries, strawberries, plums.

Equal parts ripe red fruit and secondary flavors of leather and dry tobacco at this stage. Medium to full body with the acidity holding strong. Still possesses the dusty tannic finish. Drinking well now but I'm concerned about the long term. Drink now or over the next few years.

This wine was disappointing for its about $30 cost. While the tannins were present, and there were nice floral notes in the nose, there was a clear undercurrent of some sour note on the palate that was offputting. The wine wasn't obviously flawed but I have other bottles and will try another soon.

Woody notes. Jam and cedar. Ripe red fruit on the approach. Mid-palate and finish are strawberry and oak. Nice mouthfeel. Body is bigger than late time and mid-palate has rounded out a bit.

Dark ruby color. Full body in the glass. The nose of red current, cassis, dark chocolate, and dried plums. Silky smooth tannins, deep and flavorful mouth feel. Good length. The wine is in its prime. Delicious!
Increasingly elegant. Silky with long finish. Had alongside Twilight 2007 Stargazer which was more tannic and without the backbone of the Elyse. Maybe locale or year - who knows?

Not bad but I don't get the hype. 94? C'mon. I suppose at $29.99 it's decent but I found it over oaked and one dimensional. Much better value for the money out there.
Let bottle breathe for 2 hrs before consuming. Color was dark, inky and opaque slow legs. Bouquet is subtle with hints of berries and plum. Jammy, chewy, mouthwatering, complex and well balanced, medium to long finish. Definitely ready to drink now and perhaps would continue to age well for at least 5 more years or more. Can't wait to have the next one!

Great wine. The nose consists of herbs, leather and concentrated black fruit. The palate is in toe with the nose but also provides some blue berry pie which rounds all of the flavor. the color is inky purple and the body is medium to full (leaning more towards full). I was most impressed with the balance of this wine. Everything was in the right proportions as opposed to many Cali cabs that can be slightly disjointed. Cheers!

Dark ruby. Close to PnP with only 15 minutes in the glass to breathe. Nose was closed to start but had cassis, pencil shavings, dry leaves. Opened up with air to have some black raspberry and a bit of chocolate. Flavors were true to the variety and the berries were dark with a touch of herb and nice cocoa on the finish. Needed more air or a couple years more. Good juice.

Much more restrained than I was expecting. Seemed to be more red fruit dominated with tart acidity on the finish. Still pretty tannic, and somewhat tight. I was expecting a more plush, ripe wine with more obvious oak.

Dynamite but very young. Let this breathe a couple hours. Had this alongside V Sattui '05 Morisoli and '05 Levendi Stagecoach Vyds. The Morisoli's were powerful, still tannic, but wonderful after allowing to breathe. The Levendi was much much more subtle, and had wonderful mouthfeel, and aromatic nose. 3 good bottles!

Popped the cork and poured a couple of ounces into my Reidel, Sommelier Bordeaux Grand Cru glass. The nose is incredible...the fruit bouquet is intense. First taste was too wound up for my liking so I poured through a soiree and into the decanter and let it stretch for 45 minutes. Slightly under-ripened cherries, currants, blackberries, a touch of anise?...tannic. Great mouthfeel. Nice acids. Although I'm generally in agreement with most of the reviews thus far, I get the feeling that this is an adolescent...tween even. I placed the cork back in the top and set it back in the cellar for 24 hours. The next day, it had hardly transformed...still fresh and determined to not expose itself fully. The nose it showing huge potential and the rest is just not quite there yet. I have another bottle that I will sit on for at least a few more years...maybe more. If I come across more under $30, I'd likely go for it. If you have some resting in your cellar, I would advise you to let it lie for a while. If you must pull the cork, decant and take your time. Trust me, it won't drop off...even if you took all day to drink it.

Nose: Big and jammy. Blackberry, current, vanilla and oak. Almost smells like candy. Taste: Really light bodied. Didn't match the nose at all. Its still tannic. I was expecting some sort of fruit bomb and I am getting more white pepper and flowers on the approach. Hollow mid-palate. The finish tastes like ripe squash. This tastes like it is at an awkward stage because it is still fairly tannic but lacks those primary fruit flavors. I would wait on this or give it a good decant. Not bad by any means but could be better with some time.

Pop & poured. Dark colored with an almost mysterious opaque depth. Nose of bing cherries with some sarsaparilla. The nose is bright and inviting. The palate reveals some darker fruits of cassis and macerated blackberries. The nose screams Morisoli with it's sweet & creamy presence. There is much going on here, so bear with me; a plushy mouth-feel which hints of cardamom and velour; a multi-layered attack with purity and focus; leather, lead pencil, pomegranates and Kirsch Royal come to mind. There is a sweetness that remains from inception to finish, and a resurgence of cherries, just now of the blacker variety. Balance is near spot on while tannins are huge and in so need of resolving. Reminds me a bit of the '08 Charlie’s Patch I had last month. A long finish keeps this fresh and lively with just a wee hint of drying. A fantastic QPR, I might have to find a few more and bury them. Yeah, as if that helps.

Still ruby in color, with anise, tar, cocoa, vanilla, cherry, and sure ... sea foam on the nose, this really opens up nicely after a good couple hours. Medium-bodied all around, the tannins continue to get more chewy and chalky overtime in a good way. This is a high glycerin wine, but not heavy or over the top by any means ... it is actually quite balanced and addictive. Top notch medium-bodied Cali Cab with good terroir and well worth the wine library $30 sale price. Best guess would be another 2 years to begin to peak with 5 yrs of solid ageability available.

Dark garnet. Pink glycerine on glass. Rich, ripe tannins. Meaty. Long finish. Great bottle of wine. Delicious. Not as overtly fruit driven as typical Cali cab, more of a classic style.
EDIT: Raised my rating of this from 91 to 93 after tasting tonight, two days after opening the bottle. Fabulous. Really improved tremendously after 2 days. I think I'll extend my drinking window also. This wine is certain to improve dramatically with some more years of cellar time, IMO.

Does not work for me. This is the second bottle after writing off the first bottle as possibly bad/corked. For a wine with 96% Cab, the nose had a bitter/sourness that I have never really had with cab. The front end did not open up into anything and again the finish had a sour/bitter aftertaste that made me wonder what went wrong here. Even discounted to $30, I would have been unhappy if I had served this at any kind of special occasion.

No thunder. Doesn't come together. Nice cab nose, but front end does not open up. Light bodied style leaves mid palate lacking in character. Finish has some tartness, which gives off unpleasant sour aftertaste. (not sure I have ever experienced this in a wine, so this may be a bad bottle) Now I know why this is being discounted down to $30. Sorry even at that price this is not something I would pick to drink tonight. Not sure what happened here, but this is an amazingly disjointed wine for such a good vintage.
96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Deep purple color. Blackberry nose with some anise. Tastes of cherry, blackberry, and currant. Chewy tannins. Good balance with well integrated oak unlike all the other offerings. Nice finish with some depth and complexity. 14.4% alcohol.

Opened and gave it an hour. Color is ruby/purple. Nose of cassis, dark berries, subtle rose petal notes and plum. Blackberries and plums, with ripe fruit, balanced tannins, and underlying oak nuances. Pleasant and ready now.

Very nice cab - not too over the top. Good fruit and tannins are fairly well integrated. Nice finish too. The wine was a little chewy and tannins were somewhat chalky as the wine continued to open.

Lots of red fruit. Tannins on the mid and back pallet. Easy drinking wine.

Rich, lots of fruit. Just a touch of heat. Soft tannins. A full wine, juicy. Good.

Black color. Nice herbal nose of black currant & blackberry with hints of grilled meat. Full entry of black fruit flavors that is wrapped in grippy tannins. Showing a little alcoholic heat on the finish. OK, but for the $?
