Nose of black cherry fruit, black berry, and earth, more of the same on the palate, juicy and easy to appreciate, medium/big body, mouth filling fruit, touch simple, and a medium finish which hurt the score.

Lovely red fruit without being too lush. Lots of layers of flavors, especially on day 2 when the second half of the bottle was consumed. Some violet, creaminess, a pleasant hint of vanilla, but all so flawlessly wound together that I don't want to pick out flavors. Very good indeed.

Continues to evolve in a very elegant way. Rich, succulent in a St. Emilion type of way. Near its peak IMO, it started fading about an hour after we open.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Our house): Dark crimson color. Meaty dark fruit, plum, chocolate and spice aromas. Full-bodied and well-balanced, with flavors of dark fruit, dried herb and plums. Long finish.

Fantastic! While easy to drink there is no shortage of elegance and sophistication on this 06 Miner Merlot. It went down easy but every sip offered complexity in the front palate, with leather, creamy blue cheese, red cherries, smooth oak and dark tobacco, the mid-palate brought everything together to go down smoothly, on the back end a slight hint of bitter herbs, and pencil shavings that were not yet fully integrated. Surprisingly, there was already some sediment on this 4 year old wine. Definitely will go out to get a few more bottles to drink through 2012. I forgot what a fine Napa merlot tasted like, wow!

Oaky pencil lead nose. Smooth - creamy and oaky, but delicious. Long. Medium structure. Like a ripe right bank Bordeaux. Medium+ body. Super elegant. $44

Very nicely structured, with lots of nuances of flavor. Red fruit, even dark red, with tannins and grip that made this crazily drinkable and refreshing. This is not your mama's merlot. This is a tough guy merlot.

A gorgeous dark purple color with a ruby-tinged rim - this simply looks like Napa in the glass. Aromatics are slightly dusty with mocha and spicebox notes outlining deep black fruit aromas. Full bodied, sweet and rich in the mouth with a rounded texture and smooth finish.

Decanted. First taste heavy tannin. After a couple hours, much more balanced. Great spice, a little smoke. Still has another 8 years.

Within its drinking window. Slightly less fruit than the previous bottle. My last bottle, extremely pleasant.

Solid merlot with blackberry, tobacco and a touch of oak. Nice tannins hold it all together through the herbal finish.
