Open six hours before, and decanted 4 hours. Was surprised how integrated the tannin was. Blueberry, briny, mineral, great structure. Likely has another ten years of life.

Stunning power. Incredible aromatic complexity as this unfolds in the glass. Needs a lot of air... otherwise this will taste up short. Italian espresso... darkest blueberries... rich meat jus... thyme... earth... blood. Subtly sauvage. Profound minerality underlying immense fruit tamed by proper acidity. Substantial heat from the alcohol. Still very young. Happy that I have a few more in the cellar that will wait... at least 5 more years.

2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape tasting: Good amount of fruit left, rather bright acidity, some salty minerality, a touch savoury, a little bitter on the finish. It's got some horsey brett on the nose which gives it a little character. Definitely the best wine tonight QPR wise and a strong contender for wine of the night.

Wonderful and typically hedonistic CDP nose, fruit a bit thin on palate at first, really opened up and caught up to nose after about an hour. Great structure here, plum, blackberry, leather, and a medium to long finish. Drinking really well now but has the bones to stay in the cellar a few more years just as well.

Truly beautiful - intense red and black fruit on the nose accompanied by hints of herb. The palate shows red/black currant, raspberry layered with vanilla notes over smoke and cured meats on a pliant tannic spine. Medium to full bodied - elevated by bright acidity, great focus and long finish! @bruisedpalate

Lovely dark ruby core with an ever so slight presence of meniscus fade...heavenly aromas of baked raspberry , pie crust , black licorice , and lavender...palate shows raspberry fruit and anise up front with a slight hint of tobacco...medium to full bodied...mid palate shows dark fruit , and bramble with a bit of heat picking up....black pepper , and loads of fruit in the finish which lingers nicely!

2007 Chateauneufs (K&L Wines, San Francisco): 95% Grenache. Medium to dark ruby. This has a wonderful creamy old vines feel to it without being the least bit overripe. Excellent sweetness, acidity, and tangy spiciness. Darker fruit, tannic finish. Serious and seemingly ageworthy wine.

Same on PnP or poured through Venturi. Nice, mature CdP which doesn’t have any wow factor.
