After a 3 hour decant, began to open up, Still big structure, but nicely integrated tannin and great dark fruit character, cracked pepper on the nose. Better on day two. Will easily go another 5 years. Pretty delicious. The wine looks inky colored. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, garrigue, black pepper and tar. It tastes like mineral, black pepper and garrigue. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Decanted, but it still didn't seem to open up as much as I recall the previous bottle doing. Still a decent, well-balanced Syrah, with dark pepper and gamey notes and moderate acidity.

Northern Rhones (Shari's house, Mpls, MN): Very dark red-purple color. 2.5hr decant, drank 1 glass over 90 minutes. Much more new world in style, with smoke, bacon fat, spice, blackberry. The palate is quite dense, full bodied, white pepper, spices, dark red fruit and blackberry, anise, and prominent and somewhat firm tannins. Drinking young still, this may benefit from another 2 years. 90(+)pts.

Decanted for four hours, initially extremely tight with lots of oak. Opened out nicely, opulent fruit does come through, nicely balanced tannins. Keep for another 3-4 years would be my recommendation

Unusual pairing with chicken marsala, but the mushrooms played well with the wine, which is drinking beautifully.

2.5 hour decant. Meaty, sweet fruit nose. Palate is spicy and tannic with black olive. I thought the finish and palate were a little hollow.

Soft black fruit, with herb/spice notes and chewy tannins. Powerful, but still has some elegance.
