I wasn't sure what to expect with this, but it drank pretty well. Ann loved it. Soft and rich, dark fruited, some earthiness. There is acidity here though to offset the fruit. Some aged, dried fruit character. Pretty solid, really.

90/100 Nose of leather, cherry, dark forrest blackberry pine cones and herbal notes of nutmeg and thyme. The bouquet is somewhat alcoholic, dark plump cherries, fully alivi and could store easily 5years more so until 2024

From magnum. Tired, near-death, staggering along with dried fig, barnyard fermenting kirsch juice, spiking acids. Woeful. Purchased on release and stored by me in impeccable conditions, cork OK, the winemaker can look for excuses but will find none here. What a waste of money.

Perfect cork. Always a gorgeous wine - however, it has peaked and is looking down the other side of the hill. No bricking of course, however, just a tad thinner than the last time. Went down super smooth.

Fresh red berry, lavender, graphite nose, the flavors are black cherry, black currants and cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves emerging on the medium long finish. Delicious. Drink now or over the next few years. Note taken after 2 hours of air. Cellared in temp controlled environment for 3 years.

Even thought there was clear leakage passed the cork the wine was classic Barbera. Very dark almost black in colour with deep blackberry and dark cherry fruit first but stinging acidity on the back end. Lovely.

Well-balanced with good struture, still very youthful with acidity of minerals mixed with blackberries and cherry on the palate. Nice on the nose with hints of licorice and dried herbs.

2007 vintage was rated 96E so with it comes high expectation when you open a Piedmont wine 5 years later especialy made by a satr wine maker. No surprises here. It is well integrated wine, nice full body color great on the nose and no bit at all in this stage. Realy pleasant to drink. Less spicy and more fruit than most wine from Piedmont. For a $25 that is a great italien wine. Bravo Giorgio Rivetti. Go get more if you can, I surley will try and see if Mikel Skurnik has some still left in the NJ/NY stores.

We had this at a friends birthday party on 11/26/11. It had a fragrant bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, mocha, toast, herb and mineral aromas. The palate was soft, round and easy to drink with flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plum, mocha, toast, herb and mineral. 90+

Mushy, dark berries with oak, pepsi, vanilla and some herbal (rosmary) notes. Tastes about the same and with quite a lot of alcohol. Slightly sweet finish. Not my style. Maybe time will help this wine. I will probably not find out if... (half btl)

Drank from 375ml at Asana Restaurant, Mandarin Hotel. Sweet, glossy, low acid, toasty oaked, er, "Barbera". Every sharp angle smoothed over, any wild element civilized, and all varietal typicity submerged into an homogenized, globally-acceptable, blackberry-frappacino'd, modernist parody.

Dark maroon core with a clear rim. The nose shows black cherry and coffee grounds. Medium acidity- shockingly low for Barbera. The palate is rather lean with some trademark tart cherry, but oak and tannin overwhelm the fruit, and there isn't enough acidity to balance things out. Medium finish obscured by sharp, biting tannins.
Not a good example of Barbera.

Dark Purple, almost black. Nice nose of blackberry, cigar and some minerality. Very smooth medium bodied wine with hints of oak, black fruits and soft subtle tannins all brought together in beautiful harmony. The 2006 was a little more complex, but still an outstanding wine.

This was my first bottle of 2007 - not sure if it was quite as good as the 2006 - but I enjoyed it very much. Always a great wine.
Same deep dark ruby color, purple garnet edges. Coffee box on the nose with great fruit also. Blackberry and minerals, like the 06. Great nose.
This bottle had a little more oak on the palate than the 06, but very mild and well integrated. I found the fruit more open also, especially after decanting. Black fruits, plums, coffee. Very smooth tannins, just enough acid. Nice finish.
Another successful ca di pian from Spinetta, IMO.

First had a bottle at Manzo in 'Eataly' NYC then bought a bottle in the shop. Found it to be a decent barbera. Not a big wine like some other piedmont's but that is what this should be. Nice fruit, pleasant acidity with enough tannin to make it interesting. Not sure if this is an aging kind of wine - seems like it should be drunk within 3-5 years. May go back for more, though it's not priced for an everyday wine.

I loved the 2006 vintage of Ca' di Pian. Picked up a bottle of the '07 when I saw one in a shop. Dark garnet. Nose of blackberry, plum, dust, and vanilla. Palate of sweet ripe blackberry, cedar, minerals, and unobtrusive oak. Very good length. Pleasant acidity. Youthful tannins. Not quite as good as the '06. Maybe it needs more time to settle down. Addendum: On day 2 (after overnight at cellar temperature) the wine expressed more fruit and finesse.

Very dark purple. Ultra-sweet and dense nose with ripe berry fruit. Mid-full bodied with opulent fruit, firm tanins and balancing acidity. Nicely balanced overall despite being so fruit-driven.
