The most Pinot of Pinots. Red berries with fine tannins, and minerality. The higher altitude shows with the elegance and lightness on its feet. The ‘08 acid came out after a bit of time.

I'm not sure if this bottles was flawed or if the wine is somehow past it's prime. A bit of funk on the nose that blew off, but not much else. Thin palate, some red fruit - cranberry - a bit bitter on the finish. Was hard to drink on day one. Under gas, day two was a bit better.

Improved since my first bottle last year. Beautiful perfumed nose. Lovely complex red fruits. Nose is better than the palate, which is integrated and a bit austere. Thinned out after a couple hours of air. Was best earlier.

Late Night with Brian (Extra Space Boon Keng, Singapore): A delicious wine – we were clearly in Chambolle with this one. It had a beautiful nose of sweet red cherries and red plums riding on gentle drifts of damp earth, boiled herbs and toasty spice, with a rising tide of floral perfume coming out with time. A very pretty, seductive nose. The palate was all bright and lively, showing a lovely purity amidst its sappy flavours of red cherries, and berries and plums. The tannins were nicely integrated and starting to soften, but still provided a nice little grip as the wine moved into a fine finish, with a long trial of spice and dried flowers trailing away into the back-palate. Delicious. Not the most complex of wines, but this was everything you could ask for in a Chambolle village and more. It was also a whole lot more fun to drink than the more solid but less charming 1999 that came just before.

Had this with the 09, which we preferred slightly. The 08 had more classic burgundy style which I like, but it was too closed to warrant a higher score. Try again in a few years.

Three Burgundies and a Swiss (with a sweet Rheinhessen Riesling to finish) (Our place, Bern, Switzerland): Tasted blind against three others. Light ruby red. Fresh red berries, hay, some bread too. Fine, somewhat restrained. As it warms up in the glass tobacco notes emerge. Quite nervous on the palate, but it has some body too - citrus note on the finish. It gets rounder, and more pleasant as it increases the temperature by a few degrees. All in all the lighter of the four. **

Just below outstandig. Very light a brigt red colour. But the nose was a little less complex than I had hoped for. Very smooth and ligt red berries in the mouth. Will this mature into a fine wine? I doubt it.

Burgundy Tasting (Wine Route Tel Aviv): Light and clear purple-brown color. At first, powerful aromas of strawberries, flowers, then developing good earthy aromas. .Light bodied, very good acidity, a bit lacking of structure (90$)

Tasted after decanting and exposed to air for probably about an hour. High-toned aromas of red berry and cherry fruit, roses, and minerally earth. Medium-bodied with a very smooth Chambolle texture with fine-grained tannins and good length. Good acidity and balance keeps it poised and elegant. Drinking quite young today, but it was very Chambolle and quite beautiful.

Decanted for about two hours. Nice bright nose with red fruit/cherries, floral, and a little dirt. Bright but balanced palate - strong acid, but some nice tannic glue.
Nice but not overly complex. Need pair with food. Not a lot of fruit - wonder if this will drink better (less acid brightness) or if there isn't enough fruit to age very long.

Popped and poured at home. Surprised that bottle has gone into awkward and closed phase so soon for an 08. Won't score it. Needs time. Perhaps another 3 years then try again. Good potential here for a fine and cool Chambolle-Musigny. Definitely a keeper!

A fine Chambolle, with everything in place. Miles apart in style from the Perrot-Minot 1er Cru example, which is much deeper and serious. This is fine, pretty red berry fruit in a style with a strong kinship with her cousin Bernard at Gros Frère et Soeur. Well done, in a very Chambolle fashion.

Nose was pretty shut down upon opening; needed quite a bit of time in the glass to open up. Very pretty red cranberry and raspberry aromas with some rose petal. Great texture on the palate, medium bodied with a nice concentration of red fruits. Mineral backbone, nice acidity on the finish.

Young and hard to evaluate. Light nose, closed, with red fruits and only a little floral component. Palate seems closed as well, hard to address level of concentration.

Domaine Anne Gros Visit, tasting mostly 2009s (Vosne-Romanee): Tasting at Domaine. Nose shows strawberry and raspberry and some hints of spice. Same red fruit flavors combine with very elegant, subtle tannins and acidity. Very charming Villages level wine. Will drink nicely young.

Fresh red fruit with some earthy tones. Good acidity. Solid for this level. Lacking some concentration and depth but very enjoyable flavor profile.

Similar to last note, including observation that it was best in the first couple hours.
