Opened with very little expectations given the very difficult Bdx year and a mid shoulder bottle with signs of leakage some time ago. Struggled to get the slightly sunk in cork out with the Durand. Bricking in the glass but clear. On the nose surprisingly clean as well. Dried fruit, some leather and wood spices. Seamlessly integrated for a wine that must had seen quite some sugar added. A touch medicinal but not oxidized. Very nice

Ard & David’s 50th birthday dinner (Chez David, Amsterdam, NL.): Upper shoulder level. Lovely colour, mature but lively appearance; clean nose, lovely vinous warmth, cassis and cedar and mint, classic Pauillac; lovely and lively palate, cassis flavours, complete for a 1969, lively acidity in check; clean and dry finish, good length. Much better than the bottle from the same cellar tasted ten years ago. Rating applies to the first 15 minutes after opening, loses its definition very quickly after that.

Dirtier and more masculine than the Margaux. Autumn leaves, kirsch liqueur as graphite.Similar to the Margaux, this still have good freshness and some Inner perfume, good power and fruits intensity, very good length and still so much life. A bit rougher but more depth. Orangey, dark chocolate at the back.

There seems to be vast bottle variations as this particular bottle was absolutely singing. Classic aged Bordeaux which is drinking exceptionally lovely now. Tannins totally melted. Creamy textured Pauillac tobacco on the satisfying finish. I can drink an entire bottle myself! An excellent bottle drinking as how it should be.

I cant't even begin to rate this wine. As expected, this wine was far past it's drinking range. It also had not been stored very well. The hints of a purebred First Growth Bordeaux were still there. You could still appreciate its pedigree and know how beautiful it must have been in its prime. So sorry we missed it.

Weak coffee from a low shoulder bottle. Tastes like balsamico mixed with wet old leafs. It's a shame nobody drank this earlier. But a nice try for € 15,- but horrible.

From 750ml. Opened, decanted and poured immediately. Colour ok, some brown on edges but brick red. Nose dominated by sulphur, rotten shellfish. Stink did blow off but this was bad wine. Not corked. Palate was mean, thin, a liitle cabernet fruit left but barely drinkable. I don't believe this was ever great wine but it's definitely bad now.

Remarkably good, very light of course but cedary and with a hint of exotique, typical 1969-acidity; light finish, long, pebbles and cedar. Excellent condition.

From a terrible vintage. The wine was totally lacking of fruit BUT for all its faults the minerality shone through, clarion like. For me, my first 1st Growth. An educational experience that in hindsight was well worth the price!

Surprisingly good. Well bricked with touch of herbs and eucalyptus. Disappeared quite quickly
Such a treat to drink

Mouton-Rothschild Tasting (Kronenschlösschen, Eltville): Certainly better than expected with an attractive nose with coffee and malt. On the palate a bit washed out, thin but entirely drinkable.
