Beautiful, rich nose of black cherry and plum. Widens and sweetens into a more layered cherry Ludens and violet nose. Layered. Lacking a certain mid palate density and has a somewhat short finish but on the attack reminds me of SQN level Syrah.

Inky color, with lots of sediment. Big, dark fruits on the nose and in the mouth with just enough spice to take on a London broil with pepperoncino peppers! Sorry this was my last one, but not sure it will get any better with age...

It's been almost 2-1/2 years since I tried this the first time. It's still drinking well and showing no sign of fading. Expressive, complex, and elegant. Paired well and stood up to smoked beef short ribs.

Deep color with a fragrant berry nose. It moves around the mouth with silky tastes of berries, black cherry and hints of leather tantalizes the tongue and the very nice smooth finish

Good god is this in a good place right now. We actually drank this after tasting some of the Catena Zapata 99 pt Malbec and this was liked by all in the room better. Obviously the Catena was overscored, but this baby just keeps getting better as it ages. Blueberry, blackberry, smoke, a hint of game, and a bit of white pepper with a finish for days. Unfortunately my last one, but I think there are a good 4-5 years left in this bottle if properly stored.

Nothing like Cali syrah, all about structure and balance and subdued flavors. Fruit does not come out and beat you over the head. I like both styles, but when I encounter on in this style, and it's made well, I'm grateful. Tannins, Fruit, and earth, some other flavors as well, but nothing over powering. Incredibly dense cork, lightly stained. I would seek this out again. Decent as it was, not in the league with Tensely, Alban, or Shafer just yet. Closest comparison might be to the Shafer One Point Five. Still enjoyable but shoudl be consumed now and over next three years.

Cork near black. Bouquet of ripe red fruits , blueberries, mild eucalyptus and smoke. Luscious on palate, mild tannins, blueberries, tar, slight tobacco and glycerin. Well developed wine. Good qpr.

I liked this wine a lot - Dark Purple in the glass, long legs, flavors of dark fruits, satiny smooth with a long finish and just the right amount of tannins. I drank the bottle over 3 days and it held up very well, as good on day 3 as day 1.

Opened but not tasted until the following afternoon. Rich porty nose. Mouth- definitely the wine grows on you. Starts out with more of a textural quality than immediateness of fruit which I think throws me off. But further analysis reveals a satiny wine with great ripe cherry intermixed with sour cherry on the long and complex finish. I like this wine.

This is exactly what I wanted. After an attempt at Chateauneuf, I just wanted Syrah and this was it. Not overly complex, but shows the grace of age and had the dark fruit and round mouthfeel I was looking for. I can't wait for the rest of these. Tonight, this was vastly superior to the 2007 Siffrein.

Dark and intense with tar on nose. Cool mouth feel with open fruit of spicy plums and blackberries. Beautifully integrated tannins. Less well paired with turkey escalopes than its sister Grenache but still very appealing

Decanted briefly; quite a bit of sediment as it was poured into the decanter. Full and dark. Opens with expressive and perfumed aromas of black licorice, smokey blueberries, spicy plums, toasty vanilla, and some slightly charred earth. Layered, and deep, with a fair amount of complex flavors. Seems to be ready and in a perfect place. Mouth coating with a great long finish. Well done and classy.

The 2007 Bunnell Syrah Horse Heaven Hills ($38) which was much bigger, huge even. I was surprised how much I liked this given my proclivity for more subdued wines. 92-94 points.

echoing other comments that this still has a great deal of life left in it. Double decanted to appreciate it properly
Soft tannins, fruit turning to pepper of medium intensity, and an overall black, tarry impact

This is a very smooth Syrah. Unlike several Syrah that tend to be peppery this was much smother and less peppery

Drank during a barbecue with an '05 Opus One, an '08 Brunello, and an '00 Bordeaux. This showed very well. Great with barbecued lamb and steak.
