Opened and poured. Excellent. Earthy, fundamental, solid pinot here from one of Oregon's best vineyards. Plums, blacks, with some earthy characteristics. Medium to full bodied. Quite nice indeed.

Quite pale in colour showing some brick red on the rim. Nose was intense and quite balanced, lots of red and black cherry and strawberry fruit with notes of herbs and wood. Quite light on the palate, maybe a little hollow, sweet strawberry and cherry fruit, dry with some woody notes, decent acidity, but also maybe a little heat on the finish (this is 16 ABV). Overall pretty good but lacked the complexity you hope for in a great pinot.

Opened 90 minutes before pouring. This is the wine the turned me on to this producer and, unlike recent vintages, this bottle did not disappoint. Classic Shea vineyard. Stewed cherries on the nose. On the palate, tart cherries (think Sweet Tarts), with some ripe strawberry, well integrated oak, and mild tannins. A long finish, and no hint of the listed 16% (!) alochol. Very, very good.

Almost a year after my first bottle of this, and it is drinking beautifully. Bright cherries and a touch of spice. Can't wait to finish it off tonight.

16% alc...tasted from 1/2 bottle in Tucson, AZ @ Feast. One word for this abortion of a pinot....HOT. Damn Hot! Excessively hot. Nothing gets past the heat on the nose or palate. Monolithic and aweful. Some of the fans of these wines that have written notes on boards in the past makes me believe this is not the typical style for this producer and I will continue to hold out hope of finding balanced RR. * out of *****.

Consumed from a split over consecutive nights. Color of ruby with a pale rim. Soft cherry fruit on the nose which becomes much spicier with warmth and air. There are hints of warm brown sugar as well. At first the fruit is sweet, from the well integrated oak, with a little tannin and a solid backbone of acidity. Raspberry and cherry flavors glide over the tongue, with hints of spice, nutmeg and cinnamon to a crisp, slightly tart finish. Drinking well know this wine will easily last 5-6 years. On night two the nose shows tobacco with darker cherry, spices and a little menthol. There are more evolved flavors with some broader strokes of strawberry and all-spice. The wine is slightly spicier in the mouth with a less tart and acidic finish .Well balanced with a nice underlying structure. Plenty of fruit but plenty of tannin and acidity for a few years ahead if you wish.

Thanksgiving Weekend in Willamette; 11/26/2004-11/28/2004: Winery Open House. Bright strawberry on nose and first taste. Subtle but clear tannins. Some interesting spice comes through from middle to finish. Probably around an 89 point wine today based on some good upside potential.

Fabulous wine. Distinct bright cherry flavors rounding into cherry-cola. A little bit of heat and taste of white pepper. Nose had a hint of earth.
