Monthly Tasting Group EEE Sept 2018; A random set of wines (@ PV): Ripe dark berries and herbs in the bouquet. On the palate juicy berry fruits, a touch of sweetness, good acidity, beautiful oak and round tannin with still a soft bite. No real hurry drinking this.

decanted 3 hours before drinking. Decent 2nd label but not much primary fruit left, so don't hesitate to drink this up. 2nd labels usually have pressed wine added for structure but that can take over once the primary fruit of the wine subsides.

Lovely and expressive bouquet with black fruits on the nose. There is no sharpness and edginess on the palate. Well-balanced wine and won't cost you a fortune to enjoy it.

Monthly Tasting Group EEE #036; Bordeaux left bank (@ PV): Creamy and lactic, youthful bouquet. On the palate supple red and dark forest fruits as well as dark plums, some good oak, a nice balance between good acidity and sweetness. Pleasant tannin with a good bite. Overall there this is a nice wine with some refinement and it deserves a higher score than the current average of 85.6. My score for tonight was 87.

Le Cap Hotel Restaurant, Barneville-Carteret (Normandy). Cork removed 30 minutes before consumption. Strong nose of vanilla and red berries. Medium bodied in the mouth, still somewhat oaky and a slightly astringent feel - but definitely not faulty. Sort of character that one would expect to improve with a little more time in bottle, but I fear this doesn't have the basic ingredients to improve much if at all. Fortunately accompanied a superb kidney dish so the acidity cut through the rich sauce effectively enough. A victim of its vintage? Drink up.

Clearly a VERY GOOD wine, but not a lot of wine today nor do we think it will be a lot of wine in the future. Dark fruits, tar, coffee and "young-wine" on the nose. A rather short wine on the palate, but showing good fruit, well mannered acids and slightly jumpy tannin in a somewhat wanting concoction. Still a delicious wine, but not ever the talk of the town. Very drinking friendly and promising an ok evening until ~2017. Should be at an ok price at any restaurant. But, hey... There are greater things out there if you care to look... With Kosugi-sensei at Milestone Bar in Yoyogiuehara (Tokyo). Overshadowed by: otherworldly selections of whiskey, including 1970 Strathisla, 1998 Laphroaig (The Moon), 20 yrs Rosebank, 1964 Carsebridge Single Grain and more... Made me very happy to have had the honor of tasting these fabulous whiskeys.

Old wine living in my cellar for more than a decade. Dry and austere, however, retaining former elegance.

57% CS, 29% M and 14% PV.
Increasingly brownish rim but still deeply colored at the center.
Cabernet perfume, leafy, with pleasing maturity aromas very much present.
Integrated structure. Smooth but still substantial. Red fruit, floral, violet, leafy, barnyard.
Perfectly ready. Removed from Chateau's cellar and drank during a dinner at Lagrange. Unforgettable experience. 90.

Prima glas wijn maar vergeleken met andere jaargangen toch wat minder diepte en complexiteit.

Contrary to other notes here I liked this a lot. Yes, perhaps a little dilute compared to other vintages but classic nonetheless.

Reasonable and pleasant at not a bad price but it does not really hit any of the high notes of its older brother

Subtle aromas of blackcherry. Simple Bordeaux that lacks complexity. Rather tannic and acidic. Medium finish.
