  • Outstanding. Tannins have softened to the perfect level. Did not decant.

  • This is a beautiful wine. This seems to be a trend this week. My wife and I Ruth are taking 2 weeks in the Galveston, tx area eating great food, escaping winter and enjoying fine wine. That stated, I decanted this wine 90 minutes. This baby still has life, but it is drinking great right now. I would guess another 5 years at least. The legs are many, short and slow. The wine appears garnet colored. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like ethanol and verbena with a pleasant finish. The body is full. The wine has fleshy texture with rounded tannins. The wine finishes very long. One of my favorite vintners. I scored this without looking at the community and the community score ended up dead on. Great job crew.

  • Wine dinner with hedonists (Metropolitan Grill, Seattle): Pop and pour. The 2008s seem to be singing right now and this is no exception. The Jacquelynn is made in a feminine style with fine tannins and beautiful balance. Delicate notes of licorice and chocolate peek through the cassis, on a bed of firm acidity. I was surprised someone else brought this wine as it seems to fly under the radar. Wine of the night by consensus among 10 tasters.

  • Decanted and served. Evolved beautifully as tightly wound black fruit blossomed into high-toned blackberry liqueur floating on refined tannins and acid. Long finish of cassis and toasted earth. Quite a bit of salinity and minerality that some will love and others will not. Showing well now for my palate.

  • Even better than previous bottle a year ago- it was 97upon PNP but diminshed too quickly in the glass after an hour - 96

  • Not quite living up to the expectations set by previous reviews - perhaps just my bottle from WineBid wasn't as well cared for in its prior life...
Nose never opened up completely - exhibited mint, eucalyptus, tobacco and faint dark fruit.
Same profile on the palate. Body was exceptional as it coated your mouth and had a long finish. Tannins melted into the wine but acidity was a bit lacking. Additional notes of minerals and spearmint on the finish. Really good with food but the green mint and eucalyptus was too distracting on its own. Bottle could have been a bit off.

  • Classic napa cab. If you have some I would open and enjoy.

  • A really big wine. Very complex on the nose and palate. Nose of dark fruits, some alcohol (~15%) comes through. Super sophisticated though. On the palate, many layers, blackberries, tobacco, vanilla. Jammy consistency. A very long finish. Really a phenomenal wine.

  • Decanted for about two hours. Fabulous. Dark fruits, a bit of chocolate, espresso, tobacco and the licorice shows up in the medium plus finish.

Tannins are still there, but not overwhelming.

Can't wait to taste this again.

  • A very serious, and very seriously overpriced, wine. The style is very modern, but in the sense of low-oak, minerally fruit; a style I quite appreciate. Anyway, the complexity of the fruit is astonishing, and the depth is beyond reckoning for the moment. Definitely has a long life ahead of it.

  • Initially popped and poured. I let this sit in the glass for over an hour after an initial taste. The nose on this wine is amazing. The nose consists of dark berries and that unmistakable signature BTK unexplainable goodness! - WOW! - The palate reveals everything I love about Napa Cabernet! The fruit is so pure and delicious! Pardon me...... but seriously; Jesus Christ would have served this wine at the last supper! The mid palate caresses my tongue and seduces me into an extremely long finish. This is like meeting a French Super Model in Paris who seduces you to marry her and you live happily ever after in her Chateau with a cellar full of every delicious wine you can imagine.......Even the dragons in the moat sing like angels when tasting this wine. Did I mention - WOW!!!! Amazing wine – worth the money (and I honestly did not think I would say that). This will cellar for many years to come. If opening now, decant for at least one and a half hours. Amazing wine!!!

  • What happened to the finish? The wine hits you with a wonderful nose, followed with an explosion of dark chocolate, currants, and molasses, then the finished lasted 10 seconds?!? Hopefully this is just a phase the wine is going through, I have never noticed this in the past.

  • There seem to be two categories of top cabernets: 1) earth, pencil lead, tobacco, ect.. and 2) dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla, ect... This wine is defiantly in the second category. Deep dark full bodied wine with one of the longest lasting finishes you will find. Intense flavors that play with you as you notice the depth of the wine. Reminded me a lot of the 2005 Hundred Acre Summer Block Shiraz?!

  • Excellent balance for such a youngster. Vanilla, dark fruits with firm grip after showing lovely fruit on palate.

  • No chance to decant and this was a mistake. There was a huge difference between the first glass and the last. The wine started to open and you could find the layers and depth I saw in the 07 Oakville. Unfair to give an official rating but at a minimum a mid 90 wine. I will make sure to decant the next time. This has potential but will benefit quite a bit from some time in the bottle. Be patient!!

  • Great to see the other CT lovers on this wine. I think it's phenomenal. Awesome density of red and black fruits. Layers and depth with a huge finish. Just killer.

  • Unreal wine. The whole Chateau Boswell wine making style is very unique. It produces some very approachable young cabernets. The utilization of To-Kalon fruit in this bottling just makes it soar into the stratosphere.

  • Previously tasted from barrel at Chateau Boswell in April and was blown away. But this time had the privilege of tasting one of the newly-bottled final products. Josh poured for us from the bottle, but we tried to resist the urge to drink immediately and let it open up some. Spectacular! Dark berry fruit and cassis on the nose, with a touch of floral notes. In the mouth, it tastes like what velvet feels like… full-bodied black fruit, tobacco, and cocoa with a subtle floral influence. Lush, feminine and incredible sexy! A gorgeous long, soft finish. I can only imagine what some age will do to this amazing wine (but not sure how long I'll be able to wait!).

  • I've always rep'd Jacquelynn & Boswell wines pretty hard, but got to taste the final blend for the Oakville & To Kalon 08's and was even more blown away. I got to taste the component barrels as well previously, and while everything was amazing, the 5 rows of To Kalon Cab Franc barrels that blend into the Oakville(I think - and Bure Duration) were knee bucklingly good. The Oakville has a deep, complex, velvety attack and monsterous depth and the To Kalon was silky smooth with amazing finish. Hard to pick a favorite.

  • Tasted from barrel at winery. Fantastic nose, color and flavors. A fantastic cab.

  • reserve rating since it's from barrel but tasted both the barrel fermented and tank fermented To Kalon Cab from barrel (likely comprising 90% of the wine). The nose and palate of the barrel fermented is some of the most complex I've had at this age. Will need a few bottles of this one, despite the price. I'm guessing it will break $200.
