This was one of my first purchases on WTSO. $20!!! I wish that I had bought 2 cases. This was my last bottle. What a pleasure to drink. Perfectly ripe dark fruit. There is still some tannins there, but nothing that throws you off. The finish is long and enjoyable. As good as it is now, there is now reason it can't go another 2-3. It might allow the tannins to soften a bit more.

First off, I was stunned, and had to take a moment to rethink things after finding out that Robert Young is not THE Robert Young, who played a Doctor on TV in the 50s (60s and 70s?), and later became a horrible alcoholic. Not that guy, no! Different Robert Young! This Robert Young, or at least his "Scion" is a BOSS! Cab blend the way I like it. Good, ripe mountain fruit (or at least hillside) aged in oak for a good long time. This wine worried me some, being 13 years old, and the cork snapped in half on first attempt. But after that, as a pop and pour, it was dreamy. Cassis, leather, pencil lead, just enough acid hanging in to make everything work. Licorice on the finish after hour number one. But time to drink up, it's going to evaporate soon, I fear. But blessedly good right now.

Clear rim. Mahogany extending to garnet. Looks fully mature. Long legs (14.2%). Classic cassis, oak, lots of red fruit, raspberry and blackberry. Tannins still present but very rounded. Coats the mouth, Red fruit repeat on the palate. LONG, LONG finish, at least 45 sec. Excellent finish. Noble tannins. Will still last 3 years easily.

Color: Deep Ruby Red Nose: Cassis, black cherry, vanilla Taste: Cherry, blackberry, vanilla and cassis Wonderful integrated flavors with layers of fruit, cassis and vanilla. This is drinking spot on right now. Velvety tannins finish with just a hint of mocha. Last bottle - wish I had more. This is in a perfect place right now.

Very good cabernet that is still youthful and only beginning to show signs of age. Tannins have softened, but dark fruit is still strong. Definitely opened up after being open for an hour or so.

This wine is so good that it made my heart flutter. The wine still has the predominant Cab characteristics and incredible fruit. Still youthful, but the tannins are now well integrated. I tried to taste and ponder, but I only drank. Greedily. I had a rib-eye, which was a great accompaniment, but who cares about the steak. The wine is outstanding and better than it was three years ago. I am planning to drink my remaining bottle this time next year. Who knows ... maybe it'll begin to show some age!

This wine was great. Nice nose, Well balanced, serious depth, and great finish. I will hold my last bottle for 2 years or so, only to see if the tannins subside just a bit, but the wine is drinking very well.

Drinking well now. It reminded me of the Silver Oak 2001 Alexander Valley in its hints of baked goods. It has a nice vanilla finish to it. Wonderful wine for its price. Will buy more.

This wine is now coming of age. Wonderful nose - tannins are integrating well. Still very youthful fruit and a long finish. This wine should continue to develope nicely over the next few years.

Silker and lighter than the 2000, but with well balanced acid and tannins. I didn't like it as much as either the '99 or the '00, but it was still a great wine. Third in a vertical of five.

Black cherry, vanilla, oak both on the nose and palate. Very well integrated wiith light tannins. Very elegant - not a heavy weight bruiser. Very glad to have several more bottles.

This wine is still excellent. We opened it and decanted it about 30 minutes before dinner. Rich, smooth, restrained and satisfying.

Intense casis nose. Opened up after 2 hrs. Fine tannins but still not integrated well, needs more time. An excellent expression of Californian cab.

Quick visit to Napa and Sonoma; 7/9/2004-7/10/2004 (Sonoma and Napa): Tasting. Just released. Somewhat shut down aromas to start. Blackberry and plum with some inner mouth perfume. Great acidity, great length, I think this has some very good medium-term potential.
