  • Brought this to a family lunch to celebrate Father's Day and my Mum's birthday at Yummy Recipes.

A good wine with potential but clearly needs to time to develop and evolve. Sweet notes of honeysuckle, honeycomb, caramel and toffee. Rich and concentrated.

Flavourful, but the integration could have been better.

  • Rich straw colour with a viscous character. The Gewürztraminer character immediately apparent on the nose. The floral leading note was quite heady and noticeable some way from the glass. Behind it came the mango and "tropical" fruit salad. In the mouth this was unctuous, sweeter than medium and again strongly floral/blossom led. Too overpowering for Mrs S who asked for a back up wine. To me, this was a real treat, always leaving me with a hankering for another sip. Flavour profile was long and but not very complex. At 13%, this caused me some problems the next morning. Still drinking well as an aperitif over the next three days. Not enough experience of wines of this nature to offer any views on quality or age but I'm happy to have had the experience. That said, I
probably won't seek any more. Now wondering what the Pinot Gris will offer.

  • Drank this at home during the 7th day celebration dinner for the Chinese New Year.

Served it together with the ice-cream cake. Notes of almond, macadamia, honey. For a quality dessert wine, this bottle lacked finesse and density to move from good to great.

  • Drank this with my roommate and his girlfriend over lunch at Burlamacco Ristorante today.

Sweet with medicinal and Chinese herbal notes. Some kamquet and honey and grass jelly in between. Will go well with desserts, and probably overpower all other food items.

On the whole, the impression of the wine is that it is a little too cloggy and syrupy. Reminiscence of cough syrup and Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa.

Overall slightly disappointed that the wine did not do it's job well for the day.

  • Drank this today to celebrate 2 birthdays at Asia Grand Restaurant.

Yellow in colour with a relatively muted nose. Had expected a more expressive nose from a Gewurztraminer.

On the palate the sweetness is subdued, with hints of ripe tropical fruits (lychee, longan, pineapples) and dried mangoes.

Had expected more from this wine. Perhaps it is a little early for consumption.

  • Pale golden yellow color. The nose feels somewhat restrained for a Gewürztraminer, but very complex and layered at the same time, exhibiting varietally pure aromas of sweet honey, poached pears, some rosewater, a little bit of lychee and a hint of minerality. The wine is very rich and powerful on the palate with full body and remarkably high sweetness for a VT. Paired with the quite modest acidity and somewhat oily mouthfeel, the wine feels rather heavy, soft and even a bit cloying. There are very powerful flavors of roses and rosewater, honey, some lychee, a little bit of Moroccan spices and a hint of lemon marmalade. The finish is very sweet and persistent with rich, powerful flavors of honey, lemon marmalade, some lychee and a hint of exotic spices. The aftertaste seems to linger and develop on the tongue for minutes.

This is an impressive powerhouse of a VT, landing heavily on the sweeter end of the style - truth be told, I've had less sweet SGN wines! However, the wine also suffers a bit from the typical pitfall of very ripe Gewürztraminers: low acidity. There is a remarkable amount of concentration and intensity here, but not really enough acidity to balance it all out, making the wine feel quite a bit too sweet, cloying and heavy - overwhelming, even. This wine is a bit of an overkill on its own, but I can imagine it will drink much better if paired with something really sweet. Perhaps also aging it long enough in the hopes of getting the sweetness down a bit might help as well?

  • Domaines Schlumberger Dinner (Imperial Treasure, Great World City): A bit too young at the moment. This came across as decent, but not quite showing well yet. It had a tight nose, very different from the ultra-expressive 2005 Kitterle Grand Cru Gewurz that preceded it. This showed rather subtle notes of white flowers, lychee creme and a hint of stony mineral. The palate was rich and sweet, showing a lot of youthful primary note, with layers of lychee creme and lemon oil opening up into a creamy finish filled with Gewurztraminer spice. This had really good depth, but I thought it was a bit lacking in acidity and cut. Not quite imbalanced either, but just perhaps a bit ponderous. It needs time though, and should improve as it ages..

  • Lovely nose of white florals and exotic white fruit. Wonderful array of lychee, longans and rambutans, and some dried mangoes too. Very well balanced wine of sweet fruit and soft acidity.

  • Typical but fresh. Perfumed.

  • Lovely nose with shifting aromas of spices, lemon, mango and citrus. Palate is rich and is probably a high Auslese level sweetness. The acid structure is impeccable and focuses into a long finish. Lovely
