Drunk over 2 days, red fruit, soil and salinity. On day 2 more open, more round with less acidity. Pretty good, but 2-3 years longer cellaring will be beneficial.

Red fruit, pure, some soil and stony mineral notes. Light to mid size body, middle length. A refined wine which is in its drinking window. Not for those who prefer powerful stuff.

Pronounced floral, red fruits, mushroom, cool feeling chambolle notes. Quite delicous with mainly red fruits on palate. Nose is better than the palate. However, the palate gained with some sweetie notes in 4 hours after opened.

Earth, mushrooms and red fruit on the nose, on the palate mainly red fruit, cranberries, cherries, earth, some acidity, everything in place without a wrong note as usual for a Barthod wine, especially for a 2008.

No formal notes; this seemed to be more about texture than aroma/complexity. That's not a bad thing- it's my favorite part about Burgundy with some age. But I think given pedigree, I expected more. Though given the circumstances - weeknight dinner; limited time with just the wine either before or after dinner - I may be underestimating it.

Muscular n masculine structure for a Chambolle Musigny. Dark garnet. Very perfumed nose of flowers, talc, earth and then spice. Quite astringent and so tolerates rich food pairing. Quite unlike the other Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle Musigny that I have had and in fact very un-Chambolle Musigny like. It's like a lean, young Bonne Mares. An intoxicating wine nonetheless and powerful but not ethereal or delicate and so catches me my surprise. Perhaps it's not ready to be drunk yet. 2 hours in the glass and it becomes more astringent... Strangely, the nose is more pleasurable at the beginning - sweet, floral and yet earthily mushroom like. Becomes closed up and stuffed up after 1-2 hours in the glass....

Tasted at a dinner. Quick note. From magnum. Lovely perfumed nose - fresh red berries on the attack and some mild "earthy" spices introduced towards finish. Light and transparent feel, yet structured and good grip which suited our entrecotes well. Fine finish and overall balance. 92-93p.

Nose: The nose is drop dead gorgeous and ethereal from the get go filled with red cherries, fresh picked berries, roses, wild flowers, perfumes, morning dew, and a touch of leather.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity and silky tannins. The feel is as pretty as the nose with red cherries, fresh picked berries, wild flowers, roses, and a hint of leather.
Overall: This is absolutely sexy. It has a long life ahead of it, but it is showing beautifully right now.

Took about 30 minutes to open up, a solid Chambolle, clean red pinot fruit, elegant and balanced, I do not know, I keep wanting to love Barthod's wines, but I am still a little underwhelmed, especially given the pricing, perhaps the 2009s . . .

Red cherry, blueberry, cassis, earthy notes, changing in the glass towards salinity, quite approachable, excellent!

Blueberry, violet, very alluring aroma. Heavy structure tannins. Very nice. Did not expect it to be a Chambolle due to the tannins and structure.

BBR 2008 Burgundy tasting: Soft, warming, comforting. Like cashmere. So soft and gentle and lovely!
