Very good, this was not over the hill at all, mature Bordeaux features like sous bois, leather, dried blackberry and mushrooms. With air, the fruit grew sweeter, really nice concentration and length.

Very enjoyable, old style Bordeaux. Medium bodied, very prominent nose of earth, leather and mushroom which followed on to the palate. Nice crisp red berry fruits still present and a surprisingly long finish. Whilst it is a bit past it's prime, there is a lot here to like.

Deep reddish purple. Funky nose blew off after an hour and some mushroom and loamy earth notes with a tinge of cedar developed. The palate developed some interesting nuances of stewed fruit, tobacco and pleasant medicinal notes with aeration. Medium-body and finish. An enjoyable well-aged old school Bordeaux.

The wine was popped and decanted for 5 hours before drinking. It pours a rusty red color with much bricking at the edges. Albeit tired upon opening, the wine developed into a more vivacious tipple as it sat in the decanter. On the nose are unmistakable scents of lead pencils, leather, pepper and blackberries. The tertiary flavors of mint and petrol are especially strong in this wine. On the palate, the wine is unctuous with the unabashed viscosity enveloping the entire mouth. Notes of stone fruits, leather and barbecued meats come to the fore. Alcohol is quite strong in this wine for a Bordeaux. The finish is long with much tobacco was the acidity draws the smokiness out to a close. Fabulous.

Occasional dinner group; Mature and classical Bordeaux (@ WB): What a pleasant surprise! The bouquet shows flavors of espresso, chocolate, autumn forest and some barnyard. On the palate at first some organic impressions, but with some more air time even black berries appeared. Earth, minerals, some sweet spices, good acidity and integrated tannin with still a soft bite. Good length. At the end of its life, but still a pleasure to drink.

Lovely Pauillac aromas. Plenty of fruit. Smooth and polished like a Cote Rotie. Absolutely no tannins left, at least so it feels. A big surprise that this socalled underachiever has stood the time so well! But I fear the end is near..

Vin bu trop (très tard). Il a largement son pic de maturité. Vin madérisé auquel s'ajoute un défaut de conservation. le bouchon était anormalement imbibé et poreux ce qui a amené une oxydation excessive. Dommage

This one is over its peak, which is such a shame. It's thinn, smooth and drinkable, but I would rather drink something else. Exciting though, drinking this very mature wine.

What a lovely surprise. Vegetal and slightly faulty smell on opening - just sweet and corky, but 2 hours later after decanting: fine Pauillac aroma, sweet and full and very satisfying claret. 89P+

Nose of chalky, peppery baked plums, slightly pruney, big cassis and juicy dark fruit, tobacco, bacon fat and cedar.
Palate of tarry cassis, ripe berries (blackberry and cassis), turning mature and cedary on the finish, with hints of red licorice. Lovely.
Other tasters (e.g. James Suckling) have commented about a rapid decline of the '82, and of shortness or acidity on the finish, but this bottle exhibited absolutely none of that. It was lovely.

Spicy, warm and rich nose; good weight, juicy, supple, balanced by firm 1982-tannins, acidity is slightly low; good length. Fully mature, lovely 1982-typicity.

Good colour; good depth, creamy 1982-ripeness, slightly rustic tannins, spice, stables, bottle-age, cedar, blueberries, nice; good weight, fleshy and juicy, smooth texture, ripe acidity rather firm tannins; good length but slightly drying. Satisfying, classic Pauillac. Now - 2005.

Dark purple. Black fruits, oak and butter in a somewhat closed but inviting bouquet. Full bodied, round, sweet ripe black fruits. Long aftertaste. Soft and good tannin. This wine is already a pleasure, but can ripen for at least 5 more years.

Drinking well although probably at the end of its life. Enough fruit combined with some lovely secondary flavours make it a lovely old claret!

In a perfect mature stage. Not extremely complex, but full bodied, and a nice touch of oak. Probably the best Grand Puy Ducasse I ever tasted.
