Orange, leather, dark berries, cavaillon melon, and some barnyard funk balances with tannic astringency. Not a great wine; but, a very pleasant quaf for a mere $11.
I will buy some more and stick them in the cellar for a great qpr ten years from now!

This is not a great wine. Yet, with patience (popping a 2009 in late 2017) it is a worthy drink, certainly punching well above its class for an $11 bottle.
Orange, dark berries, cavaillon melon, leather, a little bit of barnyard funk balanced out with tannic astringency.
I will be purchasing more of this wine, putting it in the cellar, and awaiting the moment... with patience.

This wine consistently resides on my "Bargain Wine List." Lots of flavor (good flavor!) for a $12 bottle of wine. Juicy, dark berries with licorice/spice notes. Would be better with lower alcohol, but it is what it is. Better with food, but makes for an easy sipper, too.

Dark berry fruit and woodsy on the nose. Plum and dark berry on the palate. Tight tannins very subdued. Some depth evident, but not really complex. Finish is nice however there is a beat of heat at the very end. Paired with a chopped steak chill helped to make the experience delightful.

A little better than the previous bottle. Probably a wine that will be significantly better in a year, or just spend a little more money now and get a better malbec.

This bottle held promise visually with an almost inky berry body but the nose was steeped in alcohol that didn't dissipate after several minutes. After a fair amount of time it never really showed much and was quite flat, sort of a "point A to point B wine" that a flaky in-law would bring to your home gushing about its virtues while you try to decipher if they are earnest and serious or just mocking your tastes. It shared the table with steak (cheap steak, appropriately) and it was up to the pedestrian challenge of at least showing its Malbec heritage but this should not be served without food - and preferably grilled meat. I might be inclined to say wait a couple of years as this might be too green but I would just move on to another label or vintage (2006/05) if you are seeking a solid Malbec and can afford a few dollars more.

Very nice, much better than the last bottle. Deep red color yields medium bodied fruit and hints of tannin. Dark cherry notes hit the palate up front, soft acidity rolls across into a mild tannic finish. Yum.

Unimpressive, simple, one-dimensional, lackluster, and flat; mailed in. Tastes like it just came off the assembly line at the malbec factory. It's not bad wine; it's just boring.

No formal TN, but this was perfectly enjoyable to sip with a pizza. Very new world, very fruit-forward (redundant?), very easy to drink. Wonderful tannins complement big flavors of plum, strawberry & cassis. I'm not sure if this has the structure for long-term aging, but I could easily see some improvement in the short-term (1-2 add'l years perhaps). For sub-$10, I love it.

Might be a little simple and underwhelming, but nothing really wrong. A touch of spice on the nose along with some dark fruit. A small bit of rustic complexity follows the dark blueberry and blackberry fruit on the palate. It's balanced, does not show any alcohol, not much tannin. Fruity and competent enough, but not much else.
Tasted this again 3 months later. It showed much better, it was more open, especially the finish, which was very fruity, and although not complex, lasted for a minute or 2.

color: mid-purple; nose: "oak monster alert!" -- bountiful aromas of oak and cedar shavings; taste: medium mouth feel, dark, and earthy on first impression, woody medium-length tannins on finish; overall: very ordinary fruit-starved (but value-priced) weeknight wine ($9) that's pleasant enough to sip but not good enough to pour for company, pales in comparison to Navarro Correas malbec at the same price (but lots better than last night's Cupcake malbec!)

Great bargain. Medium body fruity but somewhat dry. Decant for an hour or two for best flavor. I found that it is best to drink quickly as it may not retain it's structure. Compares with $15 - $20 wines on the shelf.

This wine just didn't do it. We drink wines on Friday nights with friends--and have never left a bottle with wine remaining it in until this bottle. This Malbec was a bit fruity on the nose. The taste reflected the fruit but also noted the alcohol which shows on the legs in the glass. It paired ok with Irish Gold cheese. Not bad for the price. Gets better with air after an hour or so.

A little woodier than previous vintages. Overall a great QPR, still. Improves with 1-2 hours of air before serving. Resiny overtones on the mid-palate, moderate body. OK length on finish. A bit too tannic and ripe.

Wine over Water (Newport, Kentucky): A deep ruby hued wine with a medium body. The nose seems reluctant with slight blackberry, vanilla and oak. Tastes of smooth blackberry are soft and round in the mouth. The finish has blackberry and oak with medium length.

Opened 5/20, finished 5/21. Layered while exhibiting depth and complexity. Nose is dark fruit, attack is mild with average fruit. Mid- and back-palate is balanced btw fruit and an oak component that is pleasing, while somewhat attenuating the fruit and tannin expression.

Started 4/30. Amazing nose, dark fruit aroma and good balance on the palate of acid and fruit. Follow-up on 5/1: fruit mid-palate seemed to become more fig- and prune-like. Still has a tart and somewhat oak-influenced finish, ok balance.
