A genuinely superior wine that ages beautifully. With a bit of age this shiraz more than earns its Halliday wines of the year award! Balanced, round, smooth mouth feel. Dense thick deep purple. Mint, cut grass and cherry on the nose. Subtle beginning with the subtle sweetness of ripe cherry perfectly balanced with oak. Beautiful medium long finish of mandarin that balances out this wine experience

Clear dark garnet, very clean cut cherry style with some sweet oak that's not for everyone, & really typical new world style shiraz though of high quality. some cool maritime notes of five spice & Margaret River tomato, with licorice and some tar appearing after 2 hours. really drinkable (imo) and good qpr...

Big shiraz. Strong fruit, plum and cherry on forward part of taste. medium length finish of tannin and oak nicely balancing fruit. Easy drinking wine. Colour is dark violet.

Slaking the Mid-week Thirst (La Chaseur, New Bridge Road): My least favourite of the night. Not that it was a bad wine - this was actually pretty decently put together - just that I really did not appreciate the style. The nose was super sweet and very candied, with lots of confected berry and cherry scents along with a touch of Western Australian bramble. A bit better on the palate in that it was not quite as sweet as the nose put on, but still a touch on the spoofy side for me, with a mouthfull of sweet oak and a ton of fruit - blueberries, cherries and just a bit of flowers at the finish, where some oaky spiciness showed up. Decent balance, nice plush tannins, so pretty well made, just that it was very one-dimensional fruit and oak stuff.

Voyager Estate Masterclass 2010 (North Sydney Cellars): Nose: perfume & smoked/BBQ meat, black fruit and, perhaps, touches of cinnamon Mouth: savoury black fruit, not much acid but plenty of tannin. Peppery long finish. Quite nice, far better than in April
