Ready to drink and confirming the outstanding quality of the vintage. Charming nose, of cassis, pencil, tobacco. Medium bodied, with mature, though still fresh red fruit, leather, plum, ink and mentholic notes on the palate. A fair companion to red meat dishes requiring a typical Bordeaux. Drink now over the coming 3-5 years.

Could be mistaken for a California Cabernet (though it is roughly 50% merlot). Clean, dry, with moderate acidity and tannins, some oakiness, and strong black-currant flavor. Not much length. This was ready to drink with a short decant. The wine is eminently drinkable, but at the price (~$30), I would normally look for some more depth and complexity.

This has fleshed out nicely since my last bottle a couple years ago. Palate is plush and more on the red-spectrum. Lots of red currants, raspberries, stewed plums, and ton of that lovely Bordeaux barnyard/earth funk. Still has good structure but not a lot of hard edges. This was decanted for 1 hour which it does need at this point. My kind of Bordeaux.

Some of my friends would kill me for the pairing I am about to describe. Neiman Ranch St Louis style pork ribs, (the best) sweet potato, and a big salad.
Somehow this works, at least for me ... today.
The wine is delicious. Medium bodied not a great wine, of course, but from Bordeaux in a very good year. Great aromatics, maybe a little forest floor? Bright and delicious fruit followed by solid persistant tannins. These tannins are ready to drink but will probably be enjoyable for years to come. Balanced, no rush.
Hours later, chewy, bitter in the best possible way, solid.

Pnp with about 30 minutes in the glass after being pulled from a 55 degree cellar.
The cork was saturated a dark plum color. This has a lot to like with the aromas. Loads of sweet cassis, tobacco, and lavender. Very nice balance of tannin with enough acidity to drive through a solid finish. On the palate this has lots of black fruit and cassis on the entry. In the mid palate this picks up tobacco and a bit of chalkiness. The finish transitions into a streaky iron.
Good fruit composition and this has developed some additional nuance from a bottle consumed about 20 months ago. Good development with plenty of character remaining. Drink or hold.
Day 2 - This remained very energetic with great fruit and improved aromatics.

Decanted for several hours which I think helped. I think Cowinelovers 10/25/15 review is spot on. This wine has very strong aromas of Cassis, sweet tobacco and incense. A very nice nose. Colour is deep purple and opaque. Medium body with a long, chalky finish. Good structure, if perhaps a little disjointed. There are a few reviews that suggest this week lacks fruit, but I didn't feel that way. Tannins are firm and perhaps need some more time to settle down, but there is good fruit in this wine. Great QPR for a Bordeaux.

Dark crimson, almost opaque. This was much improved since my last bottle 18 months ago. The nose jumps at you with well delineated Pessac-Leognan notes of leather, violets, and cassis. Easily the strongest aspects of the wine.
The palate, however, was not as forth coming. The wine is still very tightly wound and in its current stage, is more earthy and mineral-driven. with chewy tannins. Again, very Pessac-like flavors with cool climate, dark fruit (cassis) and lots of minerals that was a bit astringent on the mid-palate and the finish as well. I can see this improving in another 2-3 years when the fruit fleshes out more (91+). Drink to 2026.

Pnp. The aromas in the glass opened up quickly and this was very pleasant on the nose. Lots of cassis, sweet tobacco, and incense on the nose. On the palate this had a pasty/chalky quality along with tobacco notes and plums. The tannins are a little on the dry side but not objectionably so. A persistent finish with good drive. A good quality/price ratio.

Had to try another one of these after being so disappointed by the last one back in March. Definitely better than last time, but still nothing like the first bottle of my half-case back in 2013. This wine seems to be evolving very rapidly. A big, super-ripe fruit bomb in 2013, totally closed and austere in March, and now appears to be on its way to developing into a beautiful, elegant Left-Bank Bordeaux. Shows a nice amount of delicious plum and blackberry fruit with a moderate acidity. There's lots of minerality, along with notes of mocha and baker's chocolate on the long, polished finish. Subtle and elegant, yet thoroughly satisfying. Almost drinks like a fine Margaux now. Only have three of these left, so will have have to wait a while before trying again. 50+5+12+16+8=91

Bam_man's tasting notes is spot on with mine. Its overtly mineral palate is a bit out of balance with the fruit. Does not have as much fruit as would be expected from a vintage like 2009. Its full-bodied with an austere mid palate that continues into the medium-finish as well. The best thing going for it is its acidity, which might help it age a bit longer and maybe allow everything to come together in 2-3 years, but not betting on it now. Definitely a food wine that should pair well with braised meat dishes.

First one of these in almost two years. Not nearly as good as I remember it being last time. Initially very austere, hollow on the mid-palate and short, but did improve noticeably after being open for about 90 minutes. Although this leans quite a bit towards the "New World" in terms of style, there's enough minerality and terroir here to make this unmistakably Bordeaux. The medium finish contains pretty notes of espresso and spice, but there just wasn't as much depth or intensity to the plum and dark currant fruit this time. Perhaps it's entered a "dormant" phase. 50+5+12+14+7=88

Maybe we've hit this in a dumb phase. Characteristic, but unremarkable nose: cassis, black cherry, leather or cedar. Palate mostly red fruit and leather. Unpleasant, almost sour finish. Will hold other two bottles another year and try again.

Opened at cellar temperature and was initially tight and restrained, so decanted 2 hours before pairing with roasted prime rib roast for Christmas afternoon dinner. A dark ruby robe, the attractive nose features red alpine currant, black raspberry, cassis, and a touch of oak spices. Was neck-and-neck with the 2008 Lancaster Estate Cabernet Sauvignon served alongside, but with another 2 hours this wine really opened up and broadened across the palate beautifully, with juicy fruit and tannin, complementary spices and a 25- to 30-second finish, pulling clear of the Lancaster. Beautiful showing, great QPR, and should be really hitting its stride 5 years from now!

This deep-to-opaque crimson wine (a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot) was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. The nose is immediately expressive of blackberries, boysenberries, hoisin sauce, fig and fennel. The medium-bodied palate follows with similar flavors, in a round, supple frame. With medium fine-grained tannins and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14%), this wine is quite enjoyable now. There is no doubt, however, that it will get even better with some time in the cellar.
