Blimey, we bought this for cooking with, idea being, part in the food and part in a glass. Well I wish we had missed the glass part, it could melt your dentures and strip paint of a boat.. Sorry but this is not even smart as a cooking wine and best left on the shelf of a liquor store !

Good for the price. Didn't love it, first time drinking an Australian riesling. I would have enjoyed a bit more acidity and this wine would have been much nicer.

Tart, lemony, very fresh, with a nice minerality on the finish. Shared much in common with Aussie sauvignon blancs. Not what I expected, but still good.

The Stuff: 100% Riesling The Sniff: Lemon, oil, alcohol and bright acidity The Sip: Dry tart lemon peel, cut grass, nice acid, finish drops off quickly

Green-tinged lemon. Spritz of coarse bubbles in the glass. Great varietal nose: thick, creamy, crystallised lime, glittering minerality. The taste is almost astringent, but rather good. Grapefruit acid-bitterness, quite a broad midpalate, some minerals, but good fruit too. Tangy, sour, but not austere. Not bad at all, but probably needs food. [Booths, reduced from £8.99 to £5.99]

Bready, lemony, relatively simple but good balance once it opens up. I tasted the 05 recently and found it have a more or less Alsatian character; this one is a little more Teutonic, but not lacking in dryness once the acidity kicks in. Not bad (the 05 was better) but you could probably get something better from the Old World for about the same price. In fairness, I probably would have liked it better with some pork chops or something.
