  • Opened 1 hour prior to drinking, no decant. Brilliant nose with clear strawberry and apple (?) accents. Tannins are softened and it has held up well. Not too long in the mouth. After initial glass drank the rest with roasted chicken which was a good pairing. Really enjoyed the bottle but I think best to drink within the next few years.

  • one hr decant then took to fav. restaurant to enjoy with wild mushroom medley and beef cheeks, to say this was amazing is doing injustice to this wine, such an intense nose of sous bois with liqueur like flavors coming into play. Certainly at its peak or near, though I think this could continue to evolve nicely as the strength of the intense flavors could recede and not hurt it one bit, wow wine. Next bottle in a few years.

  • In contrast to Paul's note, I think this is pretty much at peak for my palate. Although this is still a little rustic, the tannins have receded and the palate impression is pretty soft. Moderately intense cherries on the nose, and the palate is a well-balanced mix of brambly fruit, spice, and some tertiary notes. Middleweight with complexity and depth that have emerged with age. Very nice.

  • Drinks at Mood Indigo (Mood Indigo, Jalan Kilang Barat, Singapore): A bit on the rustic side, but this was not bad. On the nose, savoury aromas of earth and meat and a bit of funk mingled with dark fruited tones. A strong, masculine bouquet. It was pretty decent on the palate, perhaps slight leaner in light of the vintage, but it still had a nice sinewy strength and lovely fresh acidity undergirding clear flavours of dark cherries and berries on the attack, spice, earth and meat on the midpalate, and then a fine spine of mineral pulling away into a lengthy finish. The funk on the nose was barely present on the palate, but there was a bit of a rustic roughness in the way it gripped the mouth. Otherwise this was very solid wine, starting to drink very decently too. I liked this - an old school Burg with a nice sense of focus and strength. It would be interesting to try it again in two or three years' time. I think it should be a bit better then.

  • Impressive. Never had a 2000 exhibit so much structure and solidity. For the most part it's a vintage I find soft and one-dimensional. Not this one! This combines both the Vosne and Nuits side of Boudots in equal measure. Palate is succulent, sweet cinnamon spice and gentle red fruit. Just a bit more fruit concentration and it could pass for a nearby Grand Cru. But it's not lean by any means. There's a ton of punch here.

  • Another Blind Sunday (Chez S1): Dark cherry, forest floor/mushroom funk, soy sauce, Orange Pekoe tea, clove. Pretty rustic but has held up really well for the vintage.

  • This was clearly outdone by the '00 Boillot Caillerets and not a great showing overall. Seemed disjointed, and did not get any better with air. I'm hoping just an off bottle, but if not this is lacking the fruit to match the tannin and just in general out of balance. B-/?

  • With a 30 minute splash decant this really showed well. Fully mature, with solid fruit and tannins completely resolved, this had a nice balanced finish and showed a ripe style but very good with food. Drink now, but very good. A-

  • Medium red color. Reticent out of the bottle, but with an hour it opened up a bit. This is elegant, showing good fruit but also enough structure at the end that it could use another couple of years to peak. Not great, but very nice wine. B+/A-

  • Drabk this with Phil, Paulo, and Ric at Le Perigord. We put it up against Hartford, Kistler, and Martinelli pinot's and this was by far the nicest wine. Smooth, rich, fat texture. Integrated alcohol and earthy flavors. Despite not being from a great year I really enjoyed this.
