Drank as part of.a vertical of 12. 2nd youngest, and it drank like it had been bottled yesterday. Bold, fruity, but balanced. Served with the cheese alongside a 2011 which also drank superbly.

reductive, rubbery Syrah notes and char on the nose. Palate has peppermint blackcurrant and a polished mid palate. Tannic frame needs time to mellow. Nowhere near ready to provide drinking pleasure

Grange Vertical with Peter Gago (Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore): A classy Grange - one of my favourites of the last couple of decades. Along with the 2004 in the same vertical, this showed a slightly earthier, meatier nose, with something that reminded me of roasted char siew, along with its more typical aromas of blueberries and plums and cassis, all these twisted together with a hint of capsicum and eucalyptus. A more masculine nose than most other vintages, and somehow more layered and complex for that - really nice. The palate was absolutely delicious too. Still very young of course, but there was an integration, balance and an effortless elegance that escaped some of the other Granges on show. Still clearly Australian in its ripe expression of blueberries and plums and accents of red earth and eucalyptus, but with a lovely sense of clarity and poise that made it a joy to drink even though it was still very primary. It had a solid finish too, earthier again, and with a slightly hint of spice and mineral, all still couched in a little chew of dry tannins towards the end. Very good indeed, with a long, long future ahead of this. A svelte, polished Grange. This will be lovely a couple of decades down the road. Very classy.

Penfolds Grange vertical with Peter Gago (Singapore): Did not fancy this as much as the other young vintages in this line up. It had a cooked fruit, slight oxidative streak to it. Is it the bottle or the vintage?

double decanted about 5 hours. Inky obsidian color at decant. Dense sediment in the last glass was sent through a coffee filter and it left behind beautiful black crystals. First nose was blueberry and and blackberry jam and confectionery oak but this was much more calm and diverse when served.
Sweet but not overpowering on entry with great texture and fruit clearly proclaiming an Australian Shiraz but light and persistent on the finish that had us fighting over the bottom of the bottle

Friday Wine Group - JL (Blind Lunch): Tasted blind - deep red in the glass, a good bit of sediment (I also had the last pour of the bottle). Blue fruit on the nose, and tons of black and blue fruit on the palate. Lots of blackberries, blueberries, mixed with some plumbs. Tasted excellent. I called either a Grange or some other Australian shiraz, or a CA petite sirah. So I was real close here. This wine drank extremely well, and we were lucky to have a second bottle that the host thought had slight cork-taint when first opened. By the time it was served, it had blown off, and maybe had even brighter fruit than the bottle we were served blind (which wasn't opened as long, and did not get the same 4 hour decant). Great wine.

Just Grange at its best. Deep ruby colour with already amazingly vibrant nose of black and red berries, some spice and leather, on the palate so much intensity and complexity it just lingers on forever. A wine truly for special occasions. @finewine.explorer

Beautiful nose. Bold, elegant, incredible, heady flavor. Unlike most of the Syrah's tasted, green notes are all but absent from this wine, as the fruit and structure acts closer to a Bordeaux, but it's truly something all its own. Heady, intoxicating finish sails on. First go with Grange, and while it lived up to its billing, I'm not sure how much I love the wine.
Again a fabulous tasting experience but maybe not quite as stellar as around 18 month ago. A bit less expressive, still showing lots of depth and purity on the nose. Very complete on the palate - the tannins are powerful, but incredibly polished and ripe; there is an abundance of fruit and lots of acidity. All components are incredibly well balanced. Very very long. Amazing but there is a lot more to look forward to. 96-97+(+)

Mörk Purpur, nästan svart i färgen. Riktigt lång, ligger kvar i gommen flera minuter!

Tasted alongside the 2008. This sat in a decanter for at least 1.5 hrs before tasting. Even with all that time, showed a bit of volatile acidity in the glass, which quickly blew off. Revealed loads of dusty red fruits, some meaty notes, charcoal. This really shined on the palate where it showed rather more acidity than I expected with a wonderfully refined, very finely grained tannic finish. The 2008 was probably more aromatically complex at this stage, but imo this showed better after sitting in my glass for about 30 minutes. Of course, this is still a baby, and probably could have used an even longer decant, but really beautiful.

2015 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/19/2015-10/27/2015 (New York City, NY): Youthful and fruit-laden, there is no denying that this opaque crimson iteration of Grange is destined for greatness. A blend of 96% Shiraz and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is lush with black bramble fruits, dark chocolate, charcoal, espresso and lavender. Full-bodied, fresh and with nicely-integrated alcohol, it weaves sweet tannins into the fruit profile and is plump on the mid-palate. Albeit a bit dry, the finish lingers nicely. Gorgeous and potentially warranting an even higher score, this one is simply in need of more time in the cellar. Drink 2020-2040.

Wine and Spirits Top 100 tasting - 2015 (The Metreon, SF): Beautiful. Slight eucalyptus, blackcurrant liqueur, dark fruits- black pepper. Faint suggestion of green bell-pepper pyrazines, but very ripe (could be more green olive and eucalyptus). Hint of savoriness - I’d venture slight brett/animal fur. Delicious with intense fruit and savoriness. Elevated tannins - well-rounded by oak treatment. Ripe, rich, with excellent acidity. Score: Between 9 and 9.5 4% Cab, 96% Shiraz

At Penfolds masterclass: Now to the very top of the range. A wow nose hits you with sweet musk, sweet peppery spices and blueberry fruit. The wine is clear with a extremely deep ruby core with a thin pale rime, it is very youthfull.
The nose i clean, medium intens (a bit too cold, would have changed it too medium+ but thats what i wrote). Aromas of leather, almond, raisins, floral notes of dark flowers, dark berries, black olives. This is incredible complex, very youthfull.
On the palate it is dry with medium aciddity and tannins. Medium+ % and high body and flavour intensity. Aromas is black olives, sweet candid berries, blackberries, toffee, cocoa, floral notes, very complex with a incredible long aftertaste.
This is an beautiful wine, balanced, powerfull intensity, lenght and aftertaste is just amazing. The complexity and concentration is unlike anything i have tasted from new world wines. This is truly like an dry port in a positive sense.
97-98p the only thing holding me from giving higher points is that it is a bit young for my taste, this has the potential to become a 100p wine if it develops in the right direction. Absolute beautiful wine.

very powerful nose, so much going on, some black pepper and coffee Big wine, powerful, very savoury Lots of ripe tannin, hugely fruity. That's not to say it's unsubtle. It's really beautifully balanced. Not a hint of overripeness. Rich, complex, flavours of black olives, dark chocolate, meaty and concentrated. A little vanilla too very very long This is an extremely good wine. I'm amazed it's showing so well, so young as it's clearly one for the long haul. A real thrill to try this.

I have to agree - there is so much depth and complexity to the nose, super fine, perfumed with spices, flowers, milk chocolate, ripe cherries, a hint of minerality - stunning. On the palate great grip, perfectly ripe and round tannins, firm, spicy, pure, powerful, still this impressive velvety mouthfeel. Impeccably balanced and structured. There is no heaviness at all. The finish is superb, wonderfully long, detailed and persistent. Great future. Extraordinary. One of the best young wines I ever had a chance to taste. 98-99+

This was delicious. I have only a little experience with Shiraz, or with Australian wine in general, but this wine surprised me with it's lightness.
It's bold, but isn't jammy and thick like I was expecting (given the grape / growing location). This is a good thing.
Nice mouthfeel; already surprisingly soft.
Good depth on the midpalate.
I wish the finish was a bit longer.
