This is still a fantastic wine...what a great value! PnP thru a Vinturi and started drinking after 30 min. Great from the first sip thru to the last 2 hours later. Cracked open a 2009 at that point to compare and the 2008 was definitely superior...

Bought two bottles after enjoying an 07 in an Italian restaurant a few years back; hated the first bottle I opened (awkward, starchy black fruit) and promptly forgot about the second. Until last night. Pleasant, just med body, tangy cherry fruit, not terribly complex but nice with a marinara sauce.

A solid go-to wine for us, minimal tannin, so works well with seafood as an alternative to Pinot or Barbera. Nice fruit, not overdone, light minerals, and goes very quickly!

I love this wine. Cherry and wood on the nose. Very open on the palate. Its like the flavors are spread around your mouth as a smorgasbord. Good acidity, a couple of tannins, a bit of barbecue and more cherry. Long finish.

I just really enjoy this wine. It is a beautifully made interesting wine which is easy to drink. Cranberry, earth and straw. Bright, delineated in the mouth. Medium finish, good acidity, light tannins and more red fruit. Great QPR

I really enjoyed this tonight. Bright red cherry on the nose. Good acidity and a good loose structure. Easy to drink, and a different wine to enjoy and compare to other regions. The nearest I got to was an Oregon pinot.

A lot of fuss & great reviews for this, but I don't really get it. Tasted of herbs, prunes, some bitter fruit. Opened up & better the next day, was much smoother & lighter. Drinkable to be sure, but nothing special.

Had with pasta and lobster bits with a piquant seasoning. A nicely balanced and enjoyable wine, with a softer feel on the palate than other Nero d'Avola I've tried. Still, after 30 minutes, the wine seemed less bright and the fruit fading from sunny to savory. The strong food kept me from tasting specific flavors - alas - because this wine may have many. Enjoyable to have again for under $20.

Drank on a hot, humid evening with an anti-pasto plate. Raspberry and strawberry on the nose with traces of citrus. Medium body wine that was surprisingly good. Excellent with cheese, salami, raw vegeatables, olives and some crusty Italian bread. 90!

This is the most elegant version of Nero d'Avola I have ever tasted. The nose is full of red berries (cherries and rasberries) and spices. The taste follows the nose and ends with smooth and medium long finish with silky tannins. What a delicous wine from Sicily for light meals. Very tasty also by itself. The oak is integrated in a perfectly way and wood can be hardly noticed by me.
The best thing is that this wine is reasonably priced and I will be buying more of these at the soonest.

Loved this wine, first Nero D'avola I have had. Great nose of tobacco and leather, very earthy, medium to full body with well balanced acidity and alcohol, and excellent structure. Dark fruit, spice, tobacco on the palate, wonderful mix of flavor with a very nice finish. did really well with some time and air, opened up very nice even to the second day. Really nice bottle, excellent price.

Had another bottle at Spacca Napoli in Chicago. Very consistent to prior notes. Excellent quality, black cherry and raspberry profile with soft velvet tannins. It is hard if not impossible to find better value Neros.

consistent with previous notes. I noticed that I strongly prefer this wine after a few hours of air, and even the next day. On the pop and pour, I don't like the flavor profile nearly as much.

Lots of red fruit, plums. Ripe and fruity on the nose, similar flavors on the palate, but acidity keeps it fresh. This improved on day two, the fruit was dialed back a bit, and some floral notes emerged. Not trememdously complex, but a nice weekday wine for the money.

Very viscous. Gorgeous deep black-ruby color. Enticing nose of attractive black fruits, smoke, and that "it" factor. Palate is glossy, very smooth and yet makes an impression with it's attractive, somewhat rustic fruit. Has a nice finish to it, fairly complex. Still the best non-mainland Italian I have had. Nice. 5-12-14-7: 88/100.

Very nice - good, strong flavor. A little one-dimensional, but good acidity and tannins. Short to medium finish. Berries & cherries, nice nose. Worth the money, no great shakes, though. Makes me want to try some more Nero d'Avolas.

Drank over two days. Initially PnP'd w/Vinturi, and opened up nicely into 2nd day. Bright red cherry & mineral aromas w/hints of herb, spice, coffee & vanilla. Tart cherry, raspberry, earth, mineral & oak flavors. Moderately dry, round, medium-bodied w/soft tannins, good acidity & medium finish. Very good QPR at $13.

A very well made wine, that drinks beautifully. Cherry and coffee on the nose. Little earth and vanilla in the mouth. Medium body, very integrated. Bright fruit. Sour cherry in the mouth - great fruit. Medium length finish. Now going to try a few other Neros to find out if this is typical. If it is, I like it!

This is good smooth vino. Nose reveals dark cherry and a streak of raspberry, licorice, a little smoke, some dark floral and refined black pepper. Medium plus body, balancing acidity (pleasantly surprised), medium plus alcohol, medium silky tannins. Palate confirms pepper spice, black cherry and violets. Also some dried herbs. The true joy of this wine is on the texture in the mid-palate. The silky tannins and lush body offers a really pleasing mouthfeel. Velvet. Surprisingly long finish. This is probably one of the better Neros that I have ever had. The fruit is beautiful. The palate is soft and silky. It is not over the top juicy or overoaked. Very balanced. Have a feeling that, in addition to a quality BBQ (with finely spiced sauces), this is also a chocolate wine. Deserves a look. And a good score.

This was very enjoyable and clearly the best Sicilian wine I have had yet. It was a dark ruby and had nice dark fruits and a touch of raspberry in the nose, with good delineation of blackberry fruit on the palate, excellent balance and a smooth, round mouthfeel. I'd buy it again, especially at the price. 5-12-16-7: 90/100.

This has great character in the nose--I inhale coffee, spice, and minerally dirt. Imagine eating volcanic soils, or black earthy dirt, but with a nice blackberry-blueberry fruit core; the body is medium with somewhat rustic tannins, and cherry tartness and high acidity in the finish. This will be excellent with food of many colors and weights. Good Italian drink.

Decided to pay $20 for this at pa state store this because I have not had a decent Nero d'Avola and cellartracker notes for this were not bad. First night bright raspberry flavor, acid, light body--not a good pairing with very spicy pasta. Second night not too different; couldn't hold its own against hot italian sausage. Third night the fruit and acidity had declined, the wine deeper and mellower, and much better with spicy pasta. An interesting experience, worth the money once, though not my style.

Nicely made, modern styled Nero d’Avola wine (100 percent), matured for 12 months in Tronçais and Allier barriques (20 % new, 80 % second and third use). Deep violet red in color with fragrances of sour cherry, plum, laurel and Mediterranean spices. Medium-bodied, not too complex palate with charming red fruit, a fine supporting acidity and a touch of vanilla. Rather elegant tannins. Pretty good length. Drink it now and over the next two years.

I am very surprised to not see higher marks on this one. I feel this is a solid wine and Antonio Galloni nailed it with his review. I’m going to pick up more of this and see if I still have the same opinion. It may be just a bit heavy on the oak but the sour cherries were amazing. I’m going to hold off on a detailed review until round two takes place. For now, this is a solid 91 point wine in my book. Especially considering the cost of this bottle.

The nose showed wild blueberry, mint, lavender and something I can only describe as rustic old barrel. On the palate, I found rich blackberry and menthol with a strict acidity that kept the mouth watering. However, this wine was marred by a bitterness that came through in a flavor of ginger on the finish and reminded me of the finish of a cold and flu medication.
