Red fruited and balanced. Not for the oakaphobe, but the oak is not overwhelming now either. Will probably improve for the next few years, but it's in a good window now.

Popped, poured and rested for just over 30 minutes and then consumed over next two hours. Pleasant nose of fresh berries, initial palate of tart cherries, slight menthol and medium finish. Still has lots of life I was surprised at the vibrancy given age versus price point.

Celebration of St. Vincent and Sweden's "Day of Wine". PHAT Cali Sangiovese of distinction. Maturing, still some years away from zenith.
Dark red. Nose is rich, full of oak and extracted aromas. Not much in the way of cherries, more towards rich cassis. Same on the palate: Rich, utterly well balanced, a velvety kiss and THEN some. Long and well layered. I still wouldn't be able to pick this one out as a Sangiovese in a blind tasting, but knowing what wine it is, there are some small hints available of the grape. Last btl. If we had one more btl, I'd try to keep this beauty for ~5 years. Wife: 90p At La Verdura, Yokohama.

Decanted about 1 hour before drinking. Very enjoyable now. Dark garnet-brown color. Nose of strawberries and spices. Quite smooth on palate. Not as big a wine as I hoped it would be but a lovely Sangiovese non the less.

Moved this up a notch as it continues to mature. Flavors of raspberry and spice, lightly acidic but soft at the edges. Decanted about 2+ hours and was very good right from the start.

I couldn't get enough and had several tastes at the tasting room recently. Decanting first is highly recommended for this one. With subtle hints of acidity, this Sangiovese carries through with a mix of raspberry and chocolate. Long and elegant finish, this wine could be paired with something spicy or pasta with sweet tomato sauce.

Still young but a nicely developing wine. Doesn't hold up to a robust NY Strip so I will need to bring this in with a different dish. Will continue to evolve and get better with time.

Couldn't wait a couple of years but very nice....opened up much more quickly than bottle from 6 months ago. Herbs some blueberries and...a bit of spice. Tannin are definitely present but opening bottle a couple of hours before drinking smoothed this wine out. Enjoyed with spaghetti.

Had to try this, even though others said wait. Doesn't seem right to rate it at this point (at least with my skills). Very young and tight. Decanted for 2 hours. Scent was astringent but could smell background of cherries after swirling glass. Pour into large glasses and swirled like mad...Eventually opened up. Nice flavors of black cherries, cola and spice when able to get past the sharpness of a bottle opened too young. By end of evening quite smooth and delicious fruit on palate. Absolutely will wait at least a couple of years before opening another bottle. I had to work too hard to enjoy this but it probably will be a lovely enjoyable wine if I just learn to be patient and let it mature.

*Dark red. **Infant. Starting out tightly knit. Opens up w blueberries, some herbs n oak. Well held together. ***Young. Enough acids and fruit to keep. Nice mature tannins and a clear character of mature grapes. Little on the light and non-complex side when compared to the great wines, but tremendously good compared to the medium range. ****Even with the answer at hand, I could find no sangiovese in it... Amazing :-) I really like this wine and look forward to the next bottle in 5 or so years.

Started off the 5 bottle evening with this one. Still young. Decanted for about 2 hours and opened up nicely but fruit tasted young and green. Good wine that will get much better with time.

The 2007 Seghesio Venom is drinking very well tonight. It is hard if not impossible to get that this is actually a 100 percent Sangiovese. It reminds me more of a good Zinfandel (?)... Exploding of fruit, combined with creamy vanilla tones which are nicely integrated. Palate reveals blueberries and Crème Caramel. Finish lasts some 40 seconds. Tannins take a nice grip. The wine is a not well enough integrated for me; the components are too easy to tell apart. In combination with a complete lack of terroir and 15 percent alcohol, the overall impression is less good. (We had this after a 2007 Barral Vailinère which was a mistake. The wines should have been served the other way around, but as my dad said: "Venom you can drink a few glasses of, the Valinière experience is complete after one or maybe two.). 91-92 points tonight. Recommended.

Good wine with smoked and grilled ribs (St. Louis cut, of course- no babies here). Brash and bold compared to Cortina.
