From 75cl, good cork, decanted off powdery sediment 30 minutes. After 3 excellent/outstanding bottles (10.10.2018, 10.06.2020 and 30.07.2020) I suppose it was time for a disappointment and further proof that cork is not an appropriate closure for delicate wines. This had a whiff of freshly-unblocked sewer on opening, the texture was initially almost like a "natural" wine, with gentle CO2 and fecal notes. Lovers of Dujac take note. After an hour there was a charming scent of rose-petals(!), an over-ripe fruit-cordial mid-palate and a slightly sickly, red fruit compôte finish. No exotic Vosne spice, alas. 87-88P.

Rich black and red berry throughout, not shy about expressing its ripeness, yet easily able to retain its style and balance. Very good weight for its level, drinking well now through 2029.

From 75cl, perfect cork, decanted for slight powdery sediment. Even finer than the beautiful bottle tasted in June, this is a big, exotic, ripe, muscular, asian-spicy Burg, in gorgeous full early maturity. Amazing ripe acidity. Resonant, long finish. Gob-smackingly good for a „mere“ villages, this makes it into my personal hall of fame. 92P

From 75cl, exquisite cork. Opened but not decanted 30 minutes, dramatic evolution over following hour in glass. Initially almost spritzy entry, with pin-prick acidity dancing between red and black fruit. Delicious, multi-dimensional mid-palate, still a bit closed and squeaky as noted on 10.10.2018, but developing in the right direction. An hour later it settled down into a soft, almost lush velvety smoothness. This strikes me as being about as good as villages Burgundy gets, still youthful and with perhaps a decade in store... I recommend P+P, but then taking time. Fine value at 40 EUR cellar door price. 90P

From 75cl, perfect cork, opened but not decanted 1 hour. True Burghounds will (rightly) swoon over the silky, ripe, rich, spicy, darkly sensual Pinot scent. If the palate followed, this would be a 92P++ wine right now, no questions asked, and no worries for 5+ years. The taste is, alas, more rustic, with a prim, squeaky texture, nicely balanced acid and ripe fruit, but more of a Gamay feeling than the sublime PN experience the nose promises. I think this is just entering early maturity, and should be more to my taste in the mid 2020s. By then, of course, the scent may have lost its virility. At any rate, a truly outstanding villages wine. 90P

Mushy and ripe Burgundy. Dark fruits, more acidity than structure. Rather light, which we like, more is often not better. What redeems the experience is the elegance. A complete wine.

Very impressive Villages wine. Lots of baking spice to start with ripe blackberry and boysenberry with clear liqueur notes. Same ripe black fruit flavors with slightly less spice. Fruit is restrained and balanced with good acidity and textures. This was popped and poured, but would have benefited from more air. Much better now vs one year ago.

Medium ruby. Spicy red and black fruit. Good volume and intensity, moderate tannin. Well structured for an '09 and definitely not too ripe. Excellent village wine if overpriced. I liked it more and found it more precise than 3 months ago.

Burgundy Thursday. Non-blind. 5 hrs decant. See through, pale-red color. Upon opening: Earthy oak barrels and some red fruit. After decant: Slightly more rich. Some sweet licorice added.
Upon opening: Thin, acidic, profoundly non-interesting wine. After decant: Thin, acidic, non-interesting, short wine displaying some red berries and timid oak.
425 SEK = £37 = €47 = $59 = -> 3,5 btls of Clos del Rey -> 1 btl of Andrew Will Sorella -> 1 liter of 16 yr Lagavulin The Burgundy Thursday's will continue to look for the enigma hidden in the Burgundy riddle.

Grand Tasting - La Paulee de San Francisco (Westin St. Francis - San Francisco CA): Very ripe black fruit on nose, then a combination of red, blue and black on palate. Good spice support, but I found it a bit more ripe than I particularly liked.

Some Notes from the 2012 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Westin St. Francis, San Francisco): Continuing the theme here, very ripe and this has some noticeable wood too, but it manages to fit in some attractively spicy notes on the palate too. Nobody would call this highly focused, though.
