Drank well, we had this with a 2008, 09 and 10 Meredith Estate Verical. It had a full red fruit nose, cherry and herb notes. Taste took 20-30 minutes to open up, but was smooth and great red fruit taste, this one was the lightest of the vertical, finish was balanced and long.

Light+ mahogany red. Distinct forest fruits, hedgerow fruits, wild strawberry, raspberry and surprisingly youthful aromas for an 11 yr old wine. The palate has a lovely sinew and freshness to it, with plenty of redcurrants, rich strawberry compote, a hint of cherry cola. A well made, smart wine that developed nicely in the glass; the spicy oak is well integrated, clearly a modern style that has gracefully aged lending a sweetness yet also a savoury twist. Plushly textured on the mid-palate and as opens milk chocolate and a super smooth finish.

I really liked this but it does not drink like a traditional Pinot. Purple in color. The nose has black raspberries, dark cherries, some chocolate and slight meaty quality. Lush texture. delicious purple fruits on the palate. Some chocolate. It is ripe but has enough acidity to work with food. Didn't change much after popping the cork. Interesting wine.

This is well made, but very new world pinot. Lots of ripe fruit with cinnamon and cardamom spices. The palate is very ripe and rich with lots of big fruit and sweet baking spice. This is good, but for me a bit over priced and too ripe. I think there are much better wines to be had for lower prices from Oregon and Burgundy and even other areas of California.

Big, ripe, new world Pinot with overtones of baking spices, vanilla, dark fruits, and moderate tannin. Wouldn't pay what my friend paid for another bottle.

Big ripe pinot. A bit secondary starting with some savory elements and black cherry and plum but then evolving into a sour cherry note. A little simple and just a touch of heat at the end. Medium body. Medium acid. Moderate finish. Don't see this going anywhere, but not too much of a hurry either.

Bright clear ruby colour, raspberry, cherry and spice nose, well balanced slightly sour cherry taste, tannins are still present, medium body and finish. A very nice pinot with some cellaring potential remaining.

Big nose, no cattle! The nose knocked our socks off: maraschino cherry, blackberry jam, even a little plum - inviting and intriguing. The palate and finish were a huge let down: mostly insipid black cherry with a short, tart finish. Like two different bottles of wine. Expected much more at this price point.

Ok...so...this wine was delicious. Drank it with a little Copper River salmon prepared with a wonderful blood orange vinaigrette. The food brought out the wonderful cherry flavors with a little hint of smoke. Oh my.

Excellent Russian River Pinot. Very well balanced between fruit, oak, tannins, alcohol and acidity. We picked this particular bottle out of the several pinots we tried at our private tasting in the fall of 2010.

California Pinot Noir (Gail's House): This is my favorite 08 wine from Merry Edwards. Wonderful balance and very Burg like with raspberry, earth, floral and subtle spices. Medium finish and smooth. This wine can be enjoyed now but I see it aging nicely for five years. Decanted 20 minutes.

Minneapolis Wine Club: Pinots and Salmon (Gail's House): Nose is tight, some forest floor, truffle, sour cherries, some oak and mineral. The palate seemed a bit thin on the mid palate, tannic. Others liked this considerably more than I did. I thought it was good, but not complex or layered.

Nose: Mix of dark and red fruit, nicely floral. Palate: Black cherry, very present structure with high acid and tannins. Like the RRV pinot, persisent fruit sticks to the back of the palate and takes on subtle toasty oak notes. Could use a couple years. 90+

Merry Edwards Tasting (The Bank at the Westin): A wonderful Pinot Noir with cranberry, cherry, coffee and minerals. A lot of depth to this wine and it has a long finish. A balanced wine.

simply gorgeous nose of violets mixing with berry and spices; currently drinking a bit sharp from acidity, tannins, and oak, in need of some time; but lovely underlying structure, delicious mouthfeel; almost an orange-spice taste; extremely vibrant; plan on giving it about two years before trying again

Valerie and her girlfriends - great dinner and tasting in our cellar! (Cellars at Chez Walker): First red of the evening, decanted for about 30 minutes prior to drinking. This is a big ripe Calif Pinot, letting it open and settle is recommended. These are the first of this lot opened, purchased at the vineyard a couple years ago.
Fragrant nose, cherry pie, blackberry, red fruits, plums. Palate repeats with raspberry, cherry and spices. Medium/long finish.
Very nice California Pinot, the style is to a riper expression of the grape, nothing subtle in this but still very enjoyable

Black raspberries and cherries, with spices. The wine seem to be at a plateau, and should hold here over the next couple of years.
