3/28/2013 8:06:00 AM - I appreciate your comments. Part of what makes wine fun is hearing how people translate taste and aroma into words. Bottles in a case lot can differ, temperature, aeration, all factor in. My cellar runs fairly cool so perhaps the bottle I opened yesterday still had more pizazz(acidity) than yours did. I believe you are correct in stating that its time to drink through the rest of these in the next few months. I like Dutton wines alot. Their Syrah are excellent and fly under the radar. Still enjoying 2004-2005 Dutton Syrah, but they too are at the topped out end of the curve.

The acidity that there is in this wine is "mellowing out" and is fast loosing its ability to counterpoint the ripe fruit so we are left with a jammy (albeit yummy) soft (flabby) mature fruit bomb that to my way of thinking is not what fine Pinot is all about. It also lacked the spicey nuances that many Pinots in this area are know for. Its like the dancer got tired and is now beginning to drag her feet.......She's not down (yet) but you can already see how this one is going to end.
