While the bottle tasted has lost some acidity, the quality fruit and higher alcohol content has allowed the wine to mature into a full bodied cherry jam gem. It starts a little sweet but has some sour on the finish. I bought a case of this and kept a few bottles back. While it’s drink up time for this vintage, the 09’s from Dry Creek and Sonoma have held up well.

PnP via Vinturi. Big nose of briar, forest floor, with blackberry in the background. On the palate, tons of black and blueberry on a bed of aggressive tannins and alcohol (15.8%, ouch!), revealing strawberry as the tannins fade. Long, long finish ends with black fruit and a sweet note, maybe caramel? This is a monster, great tasting and party wine. A little too much fruit and alcohol for dinner, but fun to drink? Oh, yeah.
