Huge nose of raspberry and blackberry followed by nuances of spice box, nutmeg, fresh basil, and slight graphite. Mouthwatering acidity and chewy tannins give way to a lush mothfeel with good complexity of layers. High viscosity and slow thick legs. Decant for two to three hours. Should rest nicely for another year and will be at prime by then. Good value with sale price.

Bought out of a bargain bin a the local grocery store for $13 a year ago. Been holding in my cellar. Served with beef bourguignon. Decanted for an hour. Aromas of raspberry jam, wild bramble berry, spice, tobacco, currant, and peppercorn. Wow. Really nice bouquet. Well integrated, balanced and smooth. Drink now. Great example of classical california merlot under $50.

Found this for 14.00 in a manger's special bin at the local grocery story. Normally retails around 50.00. Decanted for a little over an hour and showcased more over time. Big rich aroma showcasing raspberry jam, blackberry compote, cassis, cigar box, mint and eucalyptus. Good viscosity with strong legs and magnificent tearing after swirl. Deep purple in color. Taste: Initial waves of fruit compote and blackberry jam, followed by hints of dark chocolate, mint, eucalyptus and peppercorn. Well balanced with chewy tannins on the finish. I would say cellar for another 3 years or so. Great example of Australian winemaking that's well worth the regular price tag. This is not as good as the 2008 Piggott Range Syrah which was one of the best wines I've tasted but still very solid choice for a special occasion.
