  • Forgot about this bottle. Was surprisingly vibrant and youthful. Beautiful core of pure red cherry fruit with a slight candied quality. Quite spicy with just a hint of black pepper on the back end. Really surprising as I had low expectations given prior experience with aged Bojo. This was delightful.

  • Beautiful wine and drinking gloriously at the moment. a melange of soft blue, black and red fruit. Cool airy aromas I often associate with Foillard. Seemless texture. Much better than it was a year ago but I don't see how this will improve. I agree with Sotto, drink now.

  • As with the Cote de Ps, these 2015 Foillard wines have tamed themselves and shed the excessive heat and acid imbalance they had upon release. The Corcelette is spicier, and in some ways more exotic, than the Cote de Py. But I prefer the latter for its greater elegance and more Foillard- like fruit profile. This bottle opened with an impressive array of spices and tart dark red/black fruit notes. The color is even deeper purple/black than usual. A bit of the traditional black pepper appeared on the palate but dissipated with time. There was, in addition to the smoke, deep plummy fruit and now well- integrated tannins, a gamey overlay that provided a nice mild funk but moved me more to the Cote de Oy profile. Drink now.

  • Drank side by side with the ‘15 Cote du Py.
The Corcellete absolutely blew the Cote du Py out of the water.

I usually prefer Foillard’s Cote du Py, but with this vintage, I find that the Corcellete can handle the solar vintage much better than the Cote du Py.
This wine is so elegant and approachable right now. The tannins are seamlessly integrated at this stage, yet this wine is still built for the long haul.

Foillard is my favorite producer in Beaujolais, and the 2015 Corcellete is one of my favorite wines that I’ve tasted from Jean Foillard over the past decade.

Clearly my favorite vintage of Corcellete.

Multiple bottles consumed over the past month, each bottle was firing on all cylinders.

A clear example that Beaujolais can achieve greatness in the hands of a brilliant winemaker.
