  • 2019 Domaine des Perdrix Vosne-Romanée

An excellent Vosne for the price. Dark red and merging with orange hue near the rim. Red fruited but deep and has clove, spice, oak with a Christmas pudding characteristic. Everything I want in a village Vosne. This is not ‘big’ by any means and has excellent balance, density and persistence. Fine grained tannins, but very slightly dusty. If I was being picky the finish is slightly dry but not enough to deter me from drinking this endlessly. I’ve had many bottles of this and really appreciate the value.

  • 2018 Antinori Tignanello

Enjoyed this with friends at a steak dinner. One of the best from wines from Tuscany. Tannin, power, fruit, acid. Everything you want in a wine like this. Buy this a million times over. This is just going to get better and better with time.

  • 2013 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes

Minimum 10 years off being ready. Sour cherry, boysenberry, rhubarb, white pepper. Super high acid and tightly wound. Decanted for 2 hours and no changes. I can see the potential because of the acid, but this hadn’t developed any tertiary characters and was really quite simple at this early stage in its life. I was quite disappointed after reading the previous review because my bottle was not the same wine. This hadn’t developed much at all, and like Allen Meadows suggested, needs 20-30 years to evolve. Seriously wait another 10 years.
