Four hours of decanting!( I had a feeling...). I didn't drink too many wines from Burgundy, but this is one of kind. No finesse, no delicacy here, but power and concentration. Firm tannins, visible acidity, but thanks to solid structure, they are perfectly mixed with flavors. Red cherry, red plum, red currant ( no strawberry, no raspberry!) . Pretty long finish with grippy tannins, mild spice and minerals ( nice). Smell is even better: red cherry, herbs, dusty earth (👍), flowers and minerals. I think I like more fragile and brittle like butterfly Burgundy wines, then this kind, but I will let you know for sure, when I will drink Domaine de la Romane- Conti wine

For $60AUD this is great value. I have had many $200 1er cru bottles that drink a lot less than this. With that said, a vintage like 2016, even the Bourgogne's are drinking well from well made producers, so Beaune 1er Cru's are no exception.
Caramel, cola, cooked strawberry, earth, smoke, vanilla, white pepper, and some florals. Elegant with some tannin but overall balanced. For an every day drinking wine, this has some serious value. Drinking well now. 94/100 (at $60).

So different to Australian pinot. A dry light wine with lovely soft tannins. A pleasure to drink.

Not 1er cru standard, good fruit concentration with fresh herbs yet the finish is light and missing the wow that I find with other 1er cru

Odd nose, reduction, quite unbalanced on the palate. Difficult.
