Raspberry, cedar and blackcurrant leaf aromas. Lora of raspberry and redcurrant to taste, supple and freshly flavoured, bright acidity and well integrated tannins. Everything is in balance, it’s restrained and elegant, at a different level to previous NZ Syrahs I’ve tried.

Camomile, toast, green pepper and stem ginger on the nose. Baked apple, hazelnut, bitter lime into light oak and honey. Waxy texture. Excellent in its own right but would struggle to find equivalent burgundies at this price with as much interest and complexity. Flavours better integrated than in a bottle a year ago.

Out the bottle - fresh red berry, smooth, hardly noticeable tannins, very drinkable. More nuanced on day 2 - fresher tannins (slightly tart), blackberry, damsons, kirsch, touch of liquorice and pine. Expansive and expressive. Excellent now.
