On opening the nose was flowery, like violet/lavender. First sips of strong tannins and acids. Kept bottle open for 30 mins, then recorked for half an hour. On reopening the tannins quickly softened, while the acids took another half an hour to diminish. Then the wine was sublime. Complex, integrated dark fruits with soft earth. A beautiful wine. Should last for another decade plus without issue. The wine looks purple colored. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like violet. It tastes like forest floor, blackberry and black currant (cassis). The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Alas, I feel the same as WINOT. Past its prime. Prior bottles were fantastic. This now has a smokiness to it. A shame. I am now going to open a 2005 Almaviva and hope for better.

Over the hill despite its relatively young age. Not cooked.
