Probably the best we have ever had but as there is no details given it’s impossible to judge the why but frankly we just liked it to the max of expectations. Soft toast, soft rich, not too sharp but not lacking of focus either. Very pretty 91.

No formal notes taken. A great bottle of Pol Roger. I have had this in my cellar for about 10 – 15 years, and this extended cellaring surely makes this a complex Champagne. Nose with bruised yellow apples, apple cellar, coffee, smoke, honey, nuts. Palate is slightly sweet, with ripe mashed apples, smoked nuts, toffee. Low acidity – a very vinous and complex bottle. Lovely, this shows the value and fun of extended cellaring.

(NV Pol Roger Brut) Reminded me of Chablis with bubbles. There was a nice green apple skin quality and pretty dense bubbles and might have lacked a touch of refinement. I have found that to be a problem in 98's - - - lack of refinement.

[Restaurant purchase] At On Cru, Rotterdam. Brioche, dough, lemon, wet rock. Seems to have slightly more dosage than I prefer

Probably the best champagne I’ve ever had; not acidic, can taste the chard, custard… really nice
