Garnet with brick rim, medium intensity. Mature, medium intensity nose. A hint of sweetness, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) finegrained tannins, medium(+) body. 15%. Red dried ripe fruit, a bit jammy, kernels. Dried herbs, garrigue. Very good length. Very nice. Day 2: Raisins, leather and rounded acidity. 1/3 each of grenache, syrah, mourvèdre.

nose- with time i sense a compote of dark berry. closed. mouth - rich dark berry, coffee, torrefactive, exactly like you'd want in a throat lossenge. a tad medicinal but not disqualifying. the fruit power here is undeniable. this wine is a feat and likely will be widely appreciated. hold.

Stupendous value at $13 (Acker auction). Like a CdP at CdR prices--and it looks as though it was sold on release at not much more than I paid for it. But looking at the old reviews, I'm mystified, unless there was a lot of bottle variation--some people think it's over the hill, others that it's not ready to drink. It's certainly ripe and ready right now, still a lot of rich fruit overlying the spice and garrigue.

As before, just wonderful, pure pleasure in the glass. Absolutely at peak of perfection for a CdR.
