Dark red fruit; fresh and dense. Chambolle elegance. Deeper than I expected. Good lift and structure. Attractive and enticing. Sappy. Delicious and ready but no rush.

Having tasted some 2009's before this came as a surprise but thinking about it...a Chambolle 2009 I don't think I have come across before. This reveals elegant, sweet, spicy clove and red fruit in the raspberry/strawberry/cherry spectrum. Elegant and delicate in the mouth, really good balance with a nice if not too long fininsh. Just delicious now starting its drinking window but should reward cellaring. But why wait? I sampled this alongside 3 more Pinot Noirs and this was by far the best with Grivots Boudots 2011 in close competition. 94p

Medium ruby. Expressive nose of red fruit with minerals, spicy oak, vanilla and flowers. This is really elegant and complex. (I don't see the blackberry and cassis spectrum here that was mentioned in a previous TN on this site. We are talking red fruit spectrum nose here for sure). He palate is light bodied, fresh and sappy, a bit watery in the mid mouth preventing a mid 90ies score, but then again, we are in Chambolle. Excellent food wine, like it. 93+

A theatrical and provocative Chambolle Musigny as grandiose and elegant as a John Galliano Dior Haut couture outfit. Explosive, vibrant aromas of blueberry, cassis, blackberry, minerals, white pepper, musk, Church incense and thyme, that, despite the ripeness, float effortlessless and airily and playfully from the glass. Nuance after nuance reveal themselves on the palate, as roasted meat and orchid-like flower flavours add themselves to the blue and blackberries. Very impressive length underlayered with a thick layer of minerals and ridden throughout by fine-grained tannins. Lots of inner strength, seductive sweetness, very refreshing and racy, very very beautiful and floral and elegant on the palate. Probably the best young Chambolle Musigny I have ever tasted.
