Dinner with Friends (R&R's): Double blind. Deep crimson color. Aromas of red currants and herbs with just a hint of iron in the background. Medium-bodied with nicely ripened red berry fruit. Dark raspberry and currant qualities as it unfurls in the glass. There's an opulence here that has me thinking it could be a Napa blend masquerading as Bordeaux. In the end I decided the structure and acid were old world and the ripeness came from the vintage so I guessed 2009 Bordeaux. this paired beautifully with the lamb. My favorite of the four wines. (R&R)

Classic right bank 2010. Delicious and full bodied with jammy dark fruits and a hint of chocolate and cedar. Nice round mouthful and silky stature! Has the legs of a show girl, long, slender and beautiful! Very much like Grand Pontet! Enjoy!

Decanted and drank over two days. Medium body. Plenty of sediment. Good nose of black fruit with a hint of licorice, palate to match and an interesting secondary flavor mid-way through. Tannins still lively but not overbearing at all. Shortish finish. Good wine that's ready to drink now and certainly enjoyable, lacks nuance a bit. Still, solid 91.

On the nose menthol, dark fruit, and iron. Color- dark ruby and purple with slight brown on the edges. Flavor- totally resolved tannins, slight acidity, dark thick flesh plum, depth and nuance on mid and back palate. I thought it was great with my Beef Bourguignon. I loved it.
